Historia
Living and slaving in Fill City One, you get used to the smell. We call it the Everpresent Stink. But every once in a while, on a spring day with a breeze, it clears away enough to remind us that there is something more out there. Most Fillers' wildest dreams would be just to get past the walls and live in the mainland. But my dream? It’s a little bigger. I’m going to Mars.

Historia
Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying—from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total. On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands.

I didn’t want this book to end. When I got down to about an hour left, I started googling other books written by her. Looks like this was her first. I eagerly await her next book. I’d read anything she writes. Honestly. Such a great book.

So boring. Disappointing.
Revisado: 02-27-20
While the reader was fine, the overall story was painfully slow. Nothing ever ever happened. I listened for five of the 22 hours of this book before I gave up. OMG IT’S SO BORING. If you’re looking for an entertaining sci-fi book, look elsewhere. This book is like watching C-SPAN.

Historia
Listen, having kids is great, my little Gigi Collins and Pete’s daughter Hannah are sweet little fluffs of cotton candy, spun from the silk of fairy spiders who live in the clouds. But man, can they cause trouble. Seriously, you’d think a two-year-old couldn’t possibly threaten the very existence of our physical reality, but, well, you know where this is going. So join me and Pete, and Bobo, and of course the man himself, Nikola Tesla, on another spine-tingling, bowel-loosening thrill ride, and remember: bring your adult diapers.

Rob Dircks is always good for a bit of fun. I’ve really enjoyed all of his books, and he does a great job at reading them, too. I’d actually listen to pretty much any book he narrated/recorded!

Wonderful performance by Susannah Harker!
Revisado: 05-03-18
Lovely to hear Susannah Harker read this! Her portrayal of Jane Bennet in the A&E miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice drew me to this particular recording. I was not disappointed!

SOOOOO many plot holes!
Revisado: 03-09-18
Plot holes abound. Convoluted, ridiculous waste of time. 😑 It had some potential, but needed an editor who would say things like, “What’s this person’s motivation?” and, “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Go back to the drawing board on that one” and, “Here are some cool things, maybe you should FOCUS ON THEM”) Good grief. 🙄

I don't know what the humans are so cranky about. Their enclosures are large, they ingest over 1,000 calories per day, and they're allowed to mate. Plus, they have me: an Autonomous Servile Unit, housed in a mobile/bipedal chassis. I do my job well: keep the humans healthy and happy.

Funny and sweet. Loved it. Will listen to anything Dirks comes up with!
Revisado: 02-14-17
Loved this wonderful book. Lighthearted with lots of heart. I would recommend it to anyone, young or not so young. My whole family are Rob Dirks fans.
My teenager listened to his first book, Where the Hell is Tesla in one day. It is hilarious, loved by all I've recommended it to. General cussing makes it for a slightly older audience than The Wrong Unit, though that didn't stop me from introducing my 14 year old to it. But then I'm the kind of mom who acknowledged early on that my kids knew All The Bad Words by 6th grade. 😜

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

So fun! Great story. Great reader (the author). It's really funny and kinda sweet here and there. Seriously, read this.
I immediately, upon finishing this book, looked for anything else I could possibly read by this author. I look forward to his next work!
