Historia
In the first installment of the A Fire Beneath the Skin trilogy, the city of Klaar has never fallen. No enemy has ever made it across the Long Bridge or penetrated the city's mighty walls. Even when a powerful invading army shows up at the gates, the duke and his daughter, Rina Veraiin, are certain that it poses little threat. But they are cruelly betrayed from within and, in a horrific spasm of violence, the city is brought to its knees.

Fall into a world of Magic
Revisado: 11-06-17
I loved listening to this book. Not only was it a fun fantasy world, it was also action packed. I couldn't stop listening. I love when a story pulls me so deeply in that I don't notice how late it is till it's over. In this case I had to stop myself from picking up the next in the series when I finished this one at three in the morning.

Talk about earworm
Revisado: 11-06-17
Listening to this is far from pleasant... there is no story, it's repetitive, and the deep base gives me a headache every time.
But it works.
It switches my brain into french mode and I find my phrases and understanding come much quicker after listening to it.
I only wish there was truth to the idea that you can learn in your sleep.

Historia
The Book of Tea is much more than a book about tea. It's a celebration of the arts and culture of Japan, and a portrait of tea ceremony, the "Way of Tea", as the pinnacle of Japanese spirituality and artistic life. Written in 1906 by Kakuzo Okakura, curator of Chinese and Japanese Art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and a noted scholar and art critic, this modern classic traces the history of tea from its early medicinal uses in China, through the development of Chinese tea culture, and finally to the role of tea in Japanese Zen, culture, and politics.

To Simple Pleasures
Revisado: 08-22-17
This is a book written at the turn of the last century reflecting on how the speed of life caused by the industrial revolution was causing people to forget about slowing down and examining the simple pleasures of life. Even though it was written about a time over a hundred years ago many of its points and reflections apply to modern life in the western world.
This book is slow, and it's more of an essay or a meditation on a topic. But the slowness and thoroughness of the book felt right with the topic being examined. If you take it in sips and think on what the author has to say you may find it has a profound effect on how you look at things. I know it had one on me.

My Favorite Book
Revisado: 08-22-17
Most readers have one or two books that they've continued to pickup and read again and again. For me this is the one. Of all the books in my library I think I've read this one the most. I've probably purchased more than five editions of the text, because I keep reading through them or keep giving it away to people who have never heard of it before (always heartbreaking to me).
I was so excited when I found this version by one of the great narrators Stephen Fry.
I cannot recommend highly enough.
It's funny, action packed, and thoroughly enjoyable all while dealing with serious topics and allowing for self-examination.
Douglas Adams is the only man I know who could have written a joke about the scarcity of life in the universe that is both hilarious and mathematically correct.
Put this one at the top of your reading list - I promise you're in for a good time.
