Historia
In 1968, nine competitors set out in a race that had never before been attempted: to sail around the world, alone, without stopping. The route took them through the most dangerous waters on earth. Seeking help was forbidden, and psychologists speculated that the 10 months alone at sea could drive the sailors mad. The winner was promised money and attention, but everyone knew that the real prize was to become a legend. What no one predicted was how.

FANTASTIC SHORT LISTEN! I DARE YOU NOT TO BE MOVED.
Revisado: 01-15-23
I relate unfortunately more to the guy lost at see as an eternal optomist and despising tedious maintenance but this was such s simple and great example that I could listen and absorb in one sitting and Is love to read the complete book with more examples if and when it is completed. Bravo, fast hard clap!

Very well done with vitaly important PSA & Content
Revisado: 09-11-22
Such important information to be shared and aware of, and really shows and emphasizes that knowledge is power and what you don’t know especially as parents can definitely hurt them and you. Believe your kids and always be advocating for them even when they dont make it easy!

Really wonderful perspective & thought provoking story…
Revisado: 06-23-22
I loved how relatable the telling of this family story and in part tragedy was and how I could relate to other experiences and memories in my own beautifuly flawed family and my understanding of memories and how they affect each of us so differently even when experiencing them in the same home. Gave me a lot to think about and was just told very simply, honestly and beautifully. Although somewhat melancholy, it finished and I didnt feel sad but more hopeful and interested in how I could consider another perspective and sometimes possibly see the world through a not better but just different lens. I really loved how this story was told and really hope this author considers telling more soon.

Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

OG Catfisher. Really enjoyed this story and how it was played out with all the nuanced characters and personalities. It goes deep though too in helping everyone relate slightly and consider how we can also be different and play other parts with others. Really enjoyed and highly recommend.

REALLY well done!
Revisado: 04-15-22
I listen to a ton of podcasts and I was so impressed with this one and just tell it was structure and the personal interview and the interaction between hosts and their timing etc…which often unfortunately can just feel so staged it distracts from the story. I was drawn in quickly and couldnt pull away. I will definitely be on the lookout for any other podcast team as part of an highly recommend.

Very well researched and overall impressive podcast
Revisado: 11-20-21
I watch, listen & read an embarassingly high amount of true crime docs, podcasts and books and initially was thrown off by her chirpy and youthful voice but Im glad I gave it a shot as she really does a great job of research and finds details and facts that seem completely overlooked by others, so much so that I learned not to skip stories I heard on other shows because she provided so much additional facts and content on the same story. I also really like the dynamic of her and her Fiancee too. They are sweet and adorable together and his commentary often adds a different perspective and feels genuine and not forced or contrived. Ive listened to almost every episode and find myself checking for new ones often. It was cool to hear they moved to Atlanta where I live so I also appreciate some of the local references as they discover their new surroundings. This duo is going places and Im a big fan also looking forward to what else they do over time. Keep up the great work!!

Those reviewers never close up or petsonally experiencing child abuse need to not be offended or in the VERY least not critcize
Revisado: 09-07-21
Its distateful, offensive, undecorous ONLY to those that think its fictional!!!! For those close to it, trying to help or worse yet EXPERIENCING it, it is VERY REAL AND THE DETAILS ARE SO NECESSARY TO BE TOLD IN EXCRUTIATING DETAIL and not hidden in any way shape or form so that you can feel safe on your suburban couch and feel so much better about not caring about those that can use your outrage…not because you are Bezos with some “ability to help that you will never be rich enough to habe but because you are YOU and as a human and possibly closer to regular experiences of child abuse its YOU AND EVEN MORE EXCLUSIVELY YOU WHO HAVE NOT JUST ACCESS BUT VERY BASIC ABILITIES TO HELP AND have a responsibility as a human that apparently based on your outrage and offense outcry hasnt experienced it to hear it…..LIKE REALLY HEAR IT AND KNOW IT HAPPENS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! So if you cant bring yourself to aclnowledge anyone elses reality PLEASE keep to yourself your super entitled opinion or better yet DO SOMETHING TO MAKE A CHILDS LIFE THAT HAS TO ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE THIS BETTER IN SOME SMALL WAY!!!!!

Historia
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Hugely insightful, engaging and for me very very timely!
Revisado: 07-26-21
Im facinated by what makes us all tick, react and especially our brain and its response to trauma so I read/listen to a lot of books on the subject. This one was by far one of the best and not because everything was so original but because of how it was presented and I listen straight through and found myself reminding over and over to relisten to parts that really resonated. Arent there is so many very interesting and valuable ways of looking at trauma and childhood and then I help and really believe will help me in my communication with my daughter and I really encourage anyone considering getting this book just to do it. I own over 950 audio books and already know this is one of those few books that will stick with me for the next weeks and months and really make me think and consider new ways of interacting with others and exploring myself and all you book lovers out there I know will agree that any book like that is priceless. I hope you enjoy it and benefit as much as I did…and will.
