Historia
Humans have been pushed to the brink of extinction by an ever-evolving demonic threat. Portals are opening faster than ever, Towers are bursting into the skies, and Dungeons are being mined below the last safe havens of society. The demons are winning. Quest Academy stands defiantly against them as a place to train the next generation of Heroes. The Guild Association is holding the line but is in dire need of new blood and the powerful abilities they could bring to the battlefront. To be the saviors that humanity needs, they need to surpass the limits of those that came before them.

Decent story
Revisado: 04-17-25
It’s a decent story. Has some fun parts. I wouldn’t expect anything particularly new from this story. It fits how stories are told these days. Tropes are front and center, characters are storybook. The world created here is interesting enough. I’ll listen to the next one while waiting for sequels from my fav series’s.
Divinity is probably my favorite character by the end of the book. So, they have my interest to see how her character is expanded and grown over the series.

Historia
In the wake of Donnyton's challenge, Randidly makes preparations for his planet's future. All his cunning and crafting ingenuity flow into Kharon, the mechanical city. All his knowledge of metallurgy, engraving, and the System will shape this grand project. And if his theory proves true, the result will be much more alchemy than mechanism. While Randidly Ghosthound has plans, so does the Nexus. During his next Judgement, an extra consequence is applied; he is kidnapped from Earth and taken to the outer reaches of the Nexus proper.

This was a fun progression in the GhostHound story.
I enjoyed the progression of images in this part of the story and the personalities introduced therein.

I guess you could call my latest job interview a success. I got hired, and it's way beyond my wildest dreams. The pay isn't great. And the hours are pretty much 24/7. But there's magic. And a portal to a fantasy world. Those kind of outweigh the negatives. At first, I thought I was just testing the latest VR survival RPG, but I'm starting to think this might not be a game after all. The monsters are definitely life-like and capable of carving me apart on their worst days. But on their best days, I make them mine.

This was just “eh.” Even as far as these books go.
Revisado: 07-17-24
The consistency of language used by each character is a bit lacking.
The main character reminds me of an idiot who looks up big words to sound far more intelligent than he is.
The story and plot or bland and step by step basic.
The language and Idioms used by all three “main” characters are too similar or the same.
This comes across like a first book written by someone who doesn’t read or know how to write.
Moreover, it reeks of being AI written mainly.
The randomly thrown in big and fancy words comes across as the “author” trying to sound more intelligent in their own writing.
The main dude is more of an annoyance than a person of interest.
I’m usually a sucker for damn near isekai anything. This book was not a disappointment, I disappointed myself by listening to it from start to end. My only reason for continuing; how many women will be added to the harem. I don’t even like harems but their damn well better be a brunette in the next book. It’s on the damn cover; which looks AI made as well. Eh, sex scene, whatever-whatever, sex scene.
SPOILER:
Also, the fucking guy better not miss a pass on him so blatant as a girl putting her legs up on his shoulders while bloody skinny dipping. That set up was more annoying than whatever else the author meant for that scene to be.

Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Greymane believed he'd outrun his past. With his school for swordsmanship in Falar, he was looking forward to a quiet life, although his colleague Kyle wasn't as enamored with life outside the mercenary company, the Crimson Guard. However, it seems it is not so easy for an ex-Fist of the Malazan Empire to disappear, especially one under sentence of death from that same Empire.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 08-10-23
This was an enjoyable read.
If you liked “A Tale of the Malazan,” you’ll probably enjoy this one as well. Esslemont’s writing is rather different than Ericksons’, yet he captivates you just the same.
I enjoyed the performance as well. It too is quite different than “A Tale of the Malazan” in tone and feel. This series has a distinct feel to it that I’m coming around to thoroughly enjoy.
On to the next book for me.
