Historia
Neko Case has long been revered as one of music’s most influential artists, whose authenticity, lyrical storytelling, and sly wit have endeared her to a legion of critics, musicians, and lifelong fans. In The Harder I Fight the More I Love You, Case brings her trademark candor and precision to a memoir that traces her evolution from an invisible girl “raised by two dogs and a space heater” in rural Washington state to her improbable emergence as an internationally acclaimed talent.

Historia
Behind the tall, foreboding gates of a commune in Brazil, Daniella Mestyanek Young was raised in the religious cult The Children of God, also known as The Family, as the daughter of high-ranking members. Her great-grandmother donated land for one of The Family’s first communes in Texas. Her mother, at thirteen, was forced to marry the leader and served as his secretary for many years. Beholden to The Family’s strict rules, Daniella suffers physical, emotional, and sexual abuse—masked as godly discipline and divine love—and is forbidden from getting a traditional education.

I was not interested in all the military talk
Revisado: 09-11-24
I have no interest in anything military had I known more than half the book was going to be talk of army crap being a bitch in the army crap being a woman in the army crap I would not have ever picked up this book I was interested in a child growing up in a cult, and what the outcome of that child would be as an adult, not their experience in the military

Just ok
Revisado: 01-13-23
The story was ok, some parts were hard to believe leaving me questioning the validity of parts of the story. The narrators voice and word annunciation unbearable.

Loved it
Revisado: 01-05-23
At first listen I was thinking, what the hell is this, as I went on I found it so interesting so funny, so different. With the additions of music and sound it was unlike any audio book I heard. Artsy, humorous- some what sad but honest I truly enjoyed this book!

weird ending to the book
Revisado: 02-12-21
Great story but the ending was so abrupt, it feels like I did not finish the book, it just stopped and that was that. No closure to the storyline.
