A Thoughtful Look at Special Operations
Revisado: 07-20-22
Linds Robinson provides yet another erudite and interesting set of accounts of tactical Special Operations, as well as the senior level decision making that impacted these close-in fights.
Well researched and full of useful anecdotes. The action is compelling, and the background privdes necessary context.
ld also recommend this book to anyone trying to influence change in deep-seeded cultural environments. Leaving aside the martial approaches, there are a lot of ideas on how to consider implementing new ideas within legacy groups.

Historia
They landed in a dust storm so thick the pilot used dead reckoning and a guess to find the ground. Welcomed by a band of heavily armed militiamen, they climbed a mountain on horseback to meet the most ferocious warlord in Asia. They plotted a war of nineteenth-century maneuvers against a twenty-first-century foe. They trekked through minefields, sometimes past the mangled bodies of local tribesmen who'd shared food with them hours before. The men they helped called them brothers. Hollywood called them the Horse Soldiers. They called themselves Green Berets—Special Forces ODA 595.

An Important Story of Heroism
Revisado: 05-28-22
A well crafted story that recaps an often mischaracterized by important bit of Army Special Forces history.
Pleasantly delivered, it is honest, forthcoming, and at times harrowing.
Oh, and the Bourbon is good as well!

Historia
Authors Robin Moore and Michael Lennon team up in this exciting new novel to tell the "fictionalized" stories of the men who have risked it all for the U.S.A.: the Green Berets. They take us from firefights on the Cambodian border during the Vietnam War to the streets and alleyways of Iraq today. They teach us what it was really like to patrol the streets of Mogadishu in the days of Black Hawk Down. They show the horror that was Saddam's Iraq during the first Gulf War. They take us to the moonscape that is Afghanistan in search of the Taliban. The Wars of the Green Berets continues the saga of Moore's classic The Green Berets, revealing more than a few tantalizing secrets and anecdotes for the first time.

More about the Green Berets....eventually
Revisado: 07-03-21
Probably a good book. Interesting stories. Im sure there is a point....eventually. But it is a long time getting there. And the "Green Beret" parts are far less apparent than the title would suggest.
What is absolutely clear is that this was a horrible audio performance. It was performed by someone who apparently received absolutely no coaching from anyone with even a modicum of military experience. A cringing listen.
He was reading words, not telling a story. He sellout acronyms that are meant to be said as words,, or refer to ranks and titles..
This needs to be redone...preferably by someone who has served at least a couple of years on Active Duty in the US Army. Failing that, the reader needs direct coaching by someone with applicable military experience. [Yes, I'm volunteering.]

A very surprising and enjoyable listen.
Revisado: 03-13-21
I selected this Audible choice for 2 reasons - i recently read a post on a Bond fan site that this book was uniquely voiced from a women's view, and it was voiced here by Rosamond Pike, herself a Bond Girl.
One could be forgiven for wondering where the Bond stuff is, as the first 1/4 is essentially a girl's drama. However, please do stuck with it - it turns into a good story with a solid, if somewhat coasting ending.
This story is in no way the story of the same name in the Bond movie - itself a very good Roger Moore outing. And were it named something else would probably be a decent movie in its own right [though not advancing the canon at all.]
I recommend it. I especially recommend it for women looking for a very well written romance.
Overall...good story, well presented by the lovely and talented Ms Pike, and an entertaining listen.
