Another great book by Bill
Revisado: 12-04-20
The Burke series are a great listen for my wife and I as we travel. She usually doesn’t care for my picks due to heavy duty battles and blood. Bill makes it an interesting story without eye poking bloody scenes she doesn’t like. The characters and actions are believable and interesting. Thanks Bill for another great listen. I highly recommend this series for those that like action.

Historia
A historical suspense thriller set in the closing months of WWII, as one war grinds to an end in the rubble of Nazi Germany, all eyes turn to the next 'cold' one. The Americans, the Russians, and the British all know that the future belongs to whomever can grab the new rockets, jet fighters, long-range bombers, synthetic fuels and other 'wonder weapons' that Hitler unleashed upon them. Those will shape the balance of world power for decades to come.

Great combo of spy vs spy and romance
Revisado: 06-02-20
I enjoyed the back and forth, the underlying issues. It was a great use of real history and injecting a good spy story into it

Historia
Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Truth be told, Mac's finances are more than a little shaky. One day Mac is sitting in the famous Green Parrot Bar in Key West, contemplating his life....

DeMille still has it
Revisado: 11-14-17
I have been a Nelson DeMille fan since the days of Plum Island and Lions Game. The main character always has the smartass sense of humor and I find that one of the most endearing traits of a DeMille book. And with Scott Brick as a narrator you can't go wrong. Hoping to see more from Mr. DeMille soon

Historia
North America was settled by people with distinct religious, political, and ethnographic characteristics, creating regional cultures that have been at odds with one another ever since. Subsequent immigrants didn't confront or assimilate into an "American" or "Canadian" culture, but rather into one of the 11 distinct regional ones that spread over the continent each staking out mutually exclusive territory. In American Nations, Colin Woodard leads us on a journey through the history of our fractured continent....

Yes it's a story alright but it's trying to hide as factual
Revisado: 08-15-15
The history espoused in this book is supposed to be unbiased and factual. Well unbiased it ain't and as far as facts I think the author has made up a lot of his own facts. Needless to say it's not on my listen too again list.

Historia
Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Another good WWII story

I have a long commute so I like longer books and Wouk makes the story last without going boring. Characters are believable if not somewhat crazy at times.

Too much time spent on descriptives
Revisado: 08-14-12
Author must have matured after this book as most everything Battles writes I like, but this one just rambled too much and the story was not quite there. Wasn't impressed with narrater either, but I am very picky on narraters.

OMG, the worst narration of a W.E.B Griffin novel
Revisado: 11-05-11
I have listened to several other of the books in this series and was fortunate enough that they were performed properly. This one however butchers every Hispanic and Germanic, name in it, I have never heard a professional that is SO far off in his pronunciation of the names, places and vehicles. So sad that it has been so distracting to the story which I enjoy when performed correctly.
This book should be reread.
