Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Story was light and took about 6 hours. When I drive a long trip, this is just the kind of story I need. A short feel good book

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

The understanding of a caste system in America
Revisado: 01-16-24
This books fills in the blanks for you in understanding how we have gotten to the point where the next election is the choice between caste superiority vs democracy. It’s hard to think that this will be the end. It all makes sense.
Should be required reading in high school. I pray they make a tv documentary of this and spread the knowledge to those who don’t read.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Transported to another world, another time
Revisado: 11-18-20
The story unfolds perfectly. The author’s description of the surroundings transport you to Kya’s world, a world of marsh and swamp.
Kya is a remarkable character you will love easily. This is one of the few books I will read again, sure to discover more.
This is the perfect book to read in this pandemic.

Scotland calling
Revisado: 10-28-20
I love the description of the surroundings. I felt I was there. I beloved the dialect of the locals and the tidbits of history they passed along.
Luke’s voice in the Audible book was a bit out of place and distracting. At times it sounded like a girl trying to be the male character. That’s the only thing I would want to change.
I recommend the book. The story moves along well. It was easy for me to pick up where I left off. Good story line. In the end I didn’t want to let go of the characters.

Historia
Written with bracing wit and intelligence, Rachel Maddow's Drift argues that we've drifted away from America's original ideals and become a nation weirdly at peace with perpetual war, with all the financial and human costs that entails. To understand how we've arrived at such a dangerous place, Maddow takes us from the Vietnam War to today's war in Afghanistan.

Revisado: 06-05-20
I listened to this book along with my grandkids, 9 and 12, and enjoyed it throughly. Full of twists and turns to keep us glued to the story. Recommend for any family to enjoy together or by themselves. We travel an hour trip one way a couple times a week and this book had us sitting in the car at our destination just enjoying! We had to hear the end.

New to the zombie world- kate
Revisado: 01-23-20
This is my first experience with a “zombie” book and thanks to the author, it won’t be my last. I haven’t been so ready to read more about the main characters since I got hooked reading the Hunger Game series out loud with my teenage granddaughter.
Brian, the author, has presented believable characters that you get attached to and want to follow in a next book. The scenes are well done and keep you interested. I purchased a copy of the book to share with my granddaughter.
This is a great book for a rainy weekend or a long drive on Audible. Highly recommend. New author, can’t wait to read more of his stories.

In 2010, the words “earthquake swarm” entered the lexicon in Oklahoma. That same year, a trove of Michael Jackson memorabilia—including his iconic crystal-encrusted white glove—was sold at auction for over $1 million to a guy who was, officially, just the lowly forestry minister of the tiny nation of Equatorial Guinea. And in 2014, Ukrainian revolutionaries raided the palace of their ousted president and found a zoo of peacocks, gilded toilets, and a floating restaurant modeled after a Spanish galleon.

Wow wow wow
Revisado: 11-20-19
If I was back in the classroom I’d make this an assigned read. It has been the best presentation of the history of energy, how it shapes this country and the world, and Russia I’ve read to date. As a psychology major, I enjoyed the in-depth study of the men who drive the oil and gas industry.
Rachel has one of those voices that make audiobooks outstanding. I went back and listened to many of the chapters over to let it sink in before moving on to the next. I call this a must read.
