Historia
Living with an abusive person can make your life a nightmare. Gaslighting is an insidious form of manipulation and emotional abuse that is difficult to recognize and even more difficult to release. The goal of a gaslighter is to gradually erode the victim’s belief in themselves, their reality, and decisions. And because gaslighters are very good at putting up a convincing act, the victim gradually begins to accept what they are told over what is real.

The narration makes this impossible to listen . The narrator should rather read the children books not self help / behavioral/ mental health books.

Historia
Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that makes the victim question their sanity and self-worth. Gaslighters make you question your perception of reality and your feelings. They insist that things didn’t happen while you remember they did. They make you feel weak, confused, and stupid. They lash out and blame you when you confront them about their behavior. And they slowly undermine your self-worth and self-confidence until you become their obedient victim. Recognize this type of narcissistic abuse and break free from mind control.

modified therapy journal
Revisado: 07-21-20
These days with a self-publishing option, anyone can write a book.
Not sure about the doctoral credentials of the author. Considering the language structure and terminology looks like the author of this book is a very young and not very schooled individual who is still dealing with the trauma of narcissistic relationships. The book is not so bad - it is just naive with some heart hearted advice that the author was exposed to during the consulting session. There is a touch of political zealousness ( typical for a young person). The book reads more like parts of written therapy assignments that have been stitched together to pretend it is a book written by a professional. It is not wrong, but genuinely naive and without any distance to the topic (typical for the practicing professionals) with significant gaps in the approach.

Historia
This is not a satire, but it takes a satirical approach to shedding light upon a very dark subject: narcissistic abuse. It is intended to demonstrate to those struggling with codependency just how narcissists actually view them. By listening to their "play book", codependents should be able to recognize covert abuse and avoid its pernicious effects.

Any additional comments?
It is a relatively short book, but it says as it is.
It took me some time to listen to the entire book- I had a strong reaction to every chapter. NOT because the author said something wrong, but because every chapter was just right on the money. I listen, and I would not believe that author did not know me or did not know my marriage. So .. to make a long story short - if you suspect that your partner is a narcissist - Please read this book.

Very mixed feelings
Revisado: 12-10-14
Any additional comments?
I bought " Dr. Lyn's" books in the past, and I returned them to Audible
I listen to this one and I have truly mixed feelings. I find very difficult to believe that this lady obtained Ph.D. in counselling, psychology or any other mental health profession. The professional vocabulary and knowledge is not there. This lady commits the basic mistakes that are described and corrected during the initial training of the mental health professionals.
I perceive this book and the rest of " Dr. Lyn" publications, as books written by someone, who underwent counselling therapy and is in a process of sorting out her problems by writing the series of self-help books. There is nothing wrong with this approach (except the fact that she presents herself as a professional).
These books are written with the great degree of naiveté; however, they are refreshing. They offer a common sense approach that appears quite sound. To "Dr.Lyn”: Ma'am, you are quite smart lady. You have a lot to offer for the average reader. Please do not stop writing.
Stop pretending that you are someone else, stop the process of self-publishing and self-recording your books, start working with a professional editor, hire the professional narrator. You have a great message to pass around. I am sure that you will be able to reach much greater audience when you come across as being an authentic person with life experience and unique techniques that you are utilizing in combating your problems and setbacks. Best luck to you.

What Michelangelo was to sculpture, Gary Wohlman is to the body and soul. Just as Michelangelo saw the angel in the marble and chiseled until he set it free, Dr. Gary has developed a simple, elegant approach to bringing out the best in people: in their bodies, minds and lives... Being a model of all body, all mind, all spirit himself, his specialized somatic system frees people's unspoken conversations held in the deepest parts of the psyche through the body-mind interface.

The road to catharsis does not have to be painful
Revisado: 11-16-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The road to catharsis does not have to be emotionally painful
Someone recommended this book to me.
I started listen, to this audio, and I have to admit that the Dr Seuss's like approach to emotional trauma did not match my expectations.”
I was furious and seriously upset about this “silly approach to trauma.
I wanted to be able to say to the person who recommended this book - this is just one of the nonsense self-help books that is useless. Because I expected a long and very serious conversation about the book; I made myself listen to it. And… suddenly… I found myself in my home studio shaking my body and making monkey noises ( one of the exercises).
It felt great. It was so refreshingly new...and NOT emotionally painful, dreadful, and high energy consuming as the other therapies I am familiar with.
The process, of reaching the catharsis by stretching, body movements visualizations, rhymes, sometimes even nonsensical words and rhymes, is truly amazing - it simply works
the approach not only helps you to release your stored emotions but energizes you at the same time
I have not giggled like that for a long, long time ( many years).
As you can imagine, I restarted the audio book and now I am listening to this book and learning a new approach with completely different attitude.

This is a wonderful book
I am strongly puzzled by one star rating.
To whom gave this rating, did you listen to the actual book? Your post shows ignorance and incorrectly cites author’s statements. ( What did you want to achieve? Did you try to get your credit back?)
The book is short and to the point. It is worth reading even if you already have some experience.
Several years back I bought a lot of equipment that in the long run appeared to be useless. If I had a chance to read this book, I would save a lot of money and a lot of time and frustration during my “experiments” with the equipment and trying to utilize the lights in the completely wrong way.
My suggestion to beginner photographers- read this book first, then research what equipment is best for you. You always can upgrade and step up.
Also after working in the studio with only artificial lighting - i just discovered the fun of mixing natural and artificial light- it takes some time to master it, but it opens various possibility.
I strongly recommend this book
