Historia
As a child, Vicky Hall never had the sort of family she wanted. The least important person in her new step-family, ignored by her mother in favour of her two younger half siblings, Vicky was always an afterthought. Sitting alone at her graduation ceremony at the age of 21, she vows to create her own family and her own life, one which is full of the love and attention she has always craved.

Not what I expected…
Revisado: 12-08-24
This book was not at all what I expected, but it was written and narrated in a way that I couldn’t help but feel for the characters and relate to the commonness of feelings they felt. It is a wonderful piece of fiction that allows you to feel less alone as a mother or daughter who may not fit the definition of a “perfect” parent/child. Without giving too much away…the feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt Vickey felt as a mother were so real and raw it was very relatable and heartbreaking. I may not agree with the choices made by some of the characters, but that doesn’t mean they made bad choices, just choices that worked for them. You can’t force your own emotions and visions of what one should feel and do on others…we each have our own capacity to handle things and we have to allow ourselves and others around us the grace to make their own choices (as well as falter and succeed in their own time). Overall, it’s a wonderful book. Well done to both the author and the narrator!

Historia
When Hannah and her boyfriend, Simon, set out to Amsterdam, they’re confident that they’ll make it to his sister’s wedding in time. However, unbeknownst to them, their train is scheduled to divide in the middle of the night. And when it does, half of it continues the route to Amsterdam. And the other half—the one with Hannah in it—heads three hundred miles away, to Paris. Left without her belongings or hope of reuniting with Simon, Hannah has no choice but to spend the day in Paris before the next train out.

Light and pleasant…

I light romance with some humour and plausible scenarios. Great travel or vacation listen that doesn’t require you to think too much about details and keeps you smiling.
