Revisado: 12-24-22
A really fun and casual gamelit story!
The author brings cool new ideas to the table like pirate wizards, unique horn paladin and a barbarian griffin.
World building 4.5/5 very interesting and developed places and characters.
Story idea: 5/5 really enjoyed the pirates and ship battles.
Magic system: 4/5 simple and good, but the exp feels pointless in it
Characters: 4.5/5 fun. Interesting and relatable characters
Narrators: 5/5 for the main narrator, it's like being in the middle of the fight with his sound narrations.
2.5/5 for the second one… it's really hard to tell between her characters.
All in all 4.5 very recommended

Another awesome tale in the world of Acamida!
Revisado: 10-23-22
To be honest, I got a copy of the book in order for me to give an honest review.
The series of the goblin summoner is one of my favorites these days, mainly because of the main gang and their interaction. So I was one part excited and one part scared to start this book, which focuses on a side character we hardly know.
But, our new found hero quickly gathers his own gang and tries to save the broken city field with nightmares and monsters. If you loved the bantering in the main series there is plenty of that action going on and also lots of cleverness and card fights. The only thing missing for me is the card building parts the MC adds in the main series but all in all this is a dang good book.
World building is great, characters are relatable and believable, and the story itself is also very good. As I said the book is missing a bit of card building aspects and I personally would love to see even more card duels and new cards gain for the party, but that’s just like asking for an extra cherry on my Sunday.
4.5/5 highly recommended, but you do need to read the first 3 books in gobbling summoner to be able to jump to this one.

Historia
Whisked away from Earth and dropped into a world filled with magic and wonder, Wildermount was the closest thing Gareth had to a home. Now it’s been destroyed, torn apart by twisted nightmares lashing out at the world around them. Fleeing to the arcane tower he discovered with friends and refugees alike in tow, Gareth finds himself involved in new peril. Something dark is corrupting the rainforest around the tower, and stopping it will involve traveling half the world away to a place unlike any he has come across yet.

Another great addition to the series
Revisado: 02-21-22
Saying again that this book is refreshing because of the card based magic system still needed. Also the fact that the location of the world changes the possibilities of cards you can obtain is cool (I'm looking at you two ancient raider and hobgoblin brute).
In this book we get to see more of the world and how things are truly different across the sea. Our beloved heroes say it all during the book, but a steampunk necromancy city is something new and interesting, and the author does not disappoint and addresses the political issues and even labor issues this kind of change in society will bring. Long story short, the world building in this series is spot on and keeps on delivering in this book as well. The character development is well written and the relationships between our heroes are very believable and interesting. And last, the main plot hole that was revealed in the book sounds like a great start to across the world adventures, who knows what new societies and cards we will see next!
This book gets 5/5 highly recommended.
A nice little bonus for the readers of this series is that you can actually learn about card games and deck building as a side effect from reading the books :)

Historia
Witch hunts have plagued the kingdom of Olyanath for decades. Thousands were slain due to the king’s paranoia of women who practice Senspiritic magic. No more. Nye and his companions have seen enough of murder and misogyny. Fifteen years have passed since he joined the witch hunters, and now, at long last, an opportunity to destroy them from the inside reveals itself. An opportunity to overthrow the king and end his reign of cruelty. But 15 years of pretense have taken a toll. The strive for vengeance has steered Nye toward a path of violence and villainy.

If you love anti-hero stories this one is for
Revisado: 02-10-22
First of all I think I need to address the fact everyone is mentioning this is the Author's first book in their reviews. Yes, it's his first book, BUT this book is on a higher level than most books coming out in later years, so keep in mind it's not just a good first book for the author, it's simply a good book.
Now to the story and world building. The world the author created seems rich in history and feels alive (every action the MC takes has a butterfly effect on the world). But sadly we don’t get to see much of that. We only get glimpses of history when the princes draw them or when they have a discussion on the etymology of the curse words in their world. I would love to read a chapter about one of the characters strolling in the city and get to know it better, because then I would get to know it better as well. Having said all that, we do get to see a complex and interesting new magic system that governs the world. Harnessing one's emotions can make you do incredible things, and knowing how to harness more than one makes you a force to be reckoned with. I love the fact that essentially every one can learn magic if they're given the chance at a young enough age, that makes the emotional based system feel more real.
As for the story, the plot involves two main groups trying to undo the witch hunters organization. One from within and one through attar complete chaos. I won't get into who does things better because of spoilers, but know that each group has their "crazy person" calling the shots. On that note the author did a really good job portraying the MC's madness and the whole story gets better by it. As a twist lover I must admit I was a bit disappointed because the big important twist was unnecessary from a reader's point of view. I get confusion is important, but making the twist to be a bit more confusing and not having real stakes for the characters just felt, well, pointless. So yeah, the hero did an extra layer of confusion, but it was needed only because the author decided it was needed, so he might as well could go without the extra layer… having said all that, the story itself is very interesting and having a mad man calling the shot as the main anti-hero is refreshing.
The book gets a 4.5/5 for me and it's highly recommended as a good fantasy novel.
And for those of you who fear starting a new trilogy and not knowing if it's going to be published, the author finished the next two books but now fixing them to be even better :)

Historia
Esil is content with his quiet life beta testing new game worlds, so he doesn’t give the invitation a second thought. Having every detail of his life scrutinized while pursuing gold and glory are ambitions of the past, and mentoring is at the bottom of his to-do list. That all changes when Dean, a teenager from the same orphanage where Esil grew up, begs for help. This is a life-changing opportunity for a kid from the boxes.

A very nice ending for a great trilogy
Revisado: 01-26-22
Another great edition to the story, our hero returns to the orphanage he grew up in and finds a young protégé to train and compete in a new tournament while he is on a vacation from his job in the full immersion lab. The kid is a total mini me of the MC and that makes their time together bring up old and forgotten feelings the MC tried to bury in the past.
This is a light read, but even so the world building is fun and immersive. I was sucked into the story right from the beginning and enjoyed all the action and goof balling in it. The new competition is interesting and fun, the old characters are still awesome and the new ones do not fall short. Even the villain from the first book returns to a final showdown with our hero and his new mini me.
4.8/5 highly recommended when you are in a mood for a light read that is fun and immersive.

Historia
In the aftermath of the Developer’s Tournament, Esil has a new life filled with opportunity. He’s the first person to test out their most innovative technology, full-immersion gameplay, in a brand new, unexplored gameworld. Magic and mayhem collide in ways he never thought possible, and soon he finds himself caught in a quest that may alter the course of the game for years to come. As Esil experiences the grandeur of full-immersion and the line blurs between reality and the gameworld, the NPCs he meets feel more like friends than data.

Awesome light read
Revisado: 01-25-22
This book goes straight to the main points. Our MC is in a different state of life. He got everything going for him and he became the first human to try full immersion gaming. There are no big stakes like saving his friend's mother like in the first book; I think this is only the story to set the foundation for the main plot in the next books.
As it's a short book, nothing really big happens except for the big battle in the end, and even that one is a short one. But the story is still very interesting and the action scenes are very good. The characters are still well written and act as you expect after knowing them for a bit. And the cherry on the top is the cool (new world) world building and magic system. I wonder where the author is going to take this.
4.5/5 I highly recommend this book as a light read when you just want something fun to escape to.

fast and awesome.
Revisado: 01-23-22
Dang this was a fun book. A short one, yes, but he made every word count. I was amazed how much the story felt well-built and the characters had time to evolve at such a fast pace.
The world building in this book is not extremely innovative, but it has a fresh spin on world building in the genre. The boxes people live in was an interesting idea, and I liked the realism feel from it, like from the fact they need to power the cube by riding a bicycle. The game worlds are endless but the authors do a good job handling the leveling and traveling from one to one.
The MC is well written and very believable. He does stuff I don’t necessarily agree with, but I do understand why HE would act like that.
The only thing that felt off in this story is the love story with the "princess" but it's such a small part of the book it did not bother me that much. It felt forced and unlikely, but again, not a big enough part of the story to really bother.
5/5 highly recommend it when you are in the mood for light but good reading.
