Dysfunctional
Revisado: 04-29-22
Oh my goodness, 90 percent or more Bella spent pining over Edward. The first book was confusing on so many levels. From Chapter 3 to chapter 20 or so I spent grinding my teeth.
When I say Twilight was confusing on so many levels is how could someone who was over a hundred years old fall head over heels for a 16 year old mouth breather just because he couldn’t hear her thoughts and he liked how she smelled. Seriously! To make things worse Bella is needy and clingy.

Relationships should be earned
Revisado: 02-12-20
The problem I had with the twilight series is the relationship between Bella and Edward was not earned. It didn’t make sense to me.
If someone told me that they were a monster and I needed to run I wouldn’t need telling twice.
Bella was a human thrust into the world of the supernatural, I don’t know if I wouldn’t have behaved similar to what Bella did. I don’t have a problem with the whole ‘damsel in destress’ story line.
It’s the whole bit of being in love after a couple months I can’t stomach. Situations like that are the reason for so many people divorcing after a while. There is a difference between love and lust.
I got the series very inexpensive when the kindle books were on sale and gave the series a chance and got this audiobook for the whole Beau story without reading the reviews.
I am working on carving off serial numbers from a few different stories and combining them with this one, to have the characters earn not just love but friendship first.

Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

I couldn’t get past chapter one, it felt as if fire ants were crawling across my brain through my ears. I think I might have had more fun cleaning my ears with shards of glass.
Read the book in print but definitely ditch the audio version until they get a better narrator.

Faith alone is the foundational answer to the question, "What must I do to be saved?" The doctrine of justification by faith alone is at the center of Reformation theology, and remains critical for all believers today. This doctrine is continually under assault, yet without it, there is no gospel. In this lecture series, Dr. Sproul explores the doctrine of justification historically and theologically. He carefully defines each term in the phrase "justification by faith alone", while pointing to the imputation of a perfect righteousness found only in Jesus Christ.

Another great teaching on the gospel of grace
Revisado: 06-10-16
This is the greatness and the love of God, my Father, to allow a wretched child like me, who was born and grew up in legalism to show me the gospel of grace in such an amazing manner. This increases my love for my Father, because I know He loves me and He loves me in a way I cannot even begin to understand.
The information about the Catholic Church is correct, I was born into Orthodox Roman Catholic and moved from there into other forms of legalism within the Christian faith.
God gave me great assurance of my Salvation through this audio teaching I am sitting her in almost glee over this teaching. I will listen to it again and again. I love listening to the gospel of grace. I know at some point I will have to move from the milk of the gospel to the meat of discipleship, but that will come in time.
Remember, if you are legalist, you don't have to be. We are NOT saved by God seeing our performance, we ARE saved through God seeing Christ's performance.

Outstanding
Revisado: 06-10-16
When I first heard this book years ago I was very critical, because I grew up in legalism, believing I had to do all kinds of things to be accepted by God and for God to love me. All these were lies. I grew up in legalism and from experience there is NO GOOD in legalism. We cannot earn God's acceptance or favor, because our absolute best is and never will be good enough, because God's standards are too high. This is why Christ died for us, so we will be in Christ when we believe and put our faith in Him alone.
This book teaches the true gospel of God's grace. I missed the message the first time, due to living in legalism. I am so thankful God gave me the gospel of grace and showed me his mercy.
This book will be difficult for someone in legalism to listen to but I ask that if you are in legalism to try and listen and ask God to open your mind and heart to His truth, not religions lies or man's interpretation of what he/she thinks God is saying.
I highly recommend this book.

I knew what to expect
Revisado: 12-04-15
If you could sum up The Complete Chronicles of Narnia in three words, what would they be?
Enchanting, Charming and Fun
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Complete Chronicles of Narnia?
Each story has memorable moments; My favorite is Voyage of the Dawn Treader, that entire story enchants me. I like the progression of the story from beginning to end and I have an order I listen to these books in which makes them even more memorable.
1. Magician's Nephew
2. Lion, Witch and Wardrobe
3. Prince Caspian
4. Voyage of the Dawn Treader
5. Silver Chair
6. Horse and His Boy
7. The Last Battle
What about Maurice Denham and Full Cast ’s performance did you like?
The variety, which is the same with any full cast production.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, not able to listen to a book of this length in one sitting, but if I could I would.
Any additional comments?
I have the unabridged version of all these books and have enjoyed them, but this production is one I heard years ago and even for a time owned until I lost it. I was so excited to see it up here. To listen to this production brings back good memories. I knew it was abridged because I once owned it and it is still as fun and fresh now as it was when I first listened to it.

For the handful of scattered Jedi, survival is imperative if the light side of the Force is to be protected and the galaxy somehow, someday reclaimed. Yet more important still is the well-being of the twin infants, Leia and Luke Skywalker, the children of Anakin and his doomed bride, Padme Amidala. Separated after Padme's death, they must be made safe at all costs, lest the hope they represent for the future be turned to horror by the new Sith regime, and the unspeakable power of the dark side.

The bridge between Anakin and Vader
Revisado: 11-28-15
I know some didn't like how whinny Vader was in this story and to be honest at first I didn't either, however, Vader has only existed a short time when this story starts and this story shows Vader going from the whinny Anakin Skywalker to the infamous Darth Vader many have come to fear and love over the years.
I do like the bridge stories because they fill in the gaps when cannon throws a wrench into everything many authors wrote and I am sure The Force Unleashed will throw even more wrenches into things we have all come to accept as fact within the star wars universe. Expect more bridges. To date my favorite bridge books are the Darth Bane trilogy.

This concluding volume recounts the second half of Elvis' life in rich and previously unimagined detail, and confirms Guralnick's status as one of the great biographers of our time. Beginning with Presley's army service in Germany in 1958 and ending with his death in Memphis in 1977, Careless Love chronicles the unraveling of the dream that once shone so brightly, homing in on the complex playing-out of Elvis' relationship with his Machiavellian manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Wow
Revisado: 04-21-15
The life of Elvis Presley, Elvis was before my time for the most part. I was a child when he died there was so much talk about his death I wanted to know the truth. The way they talk about Elvis one would think he walked on water. This story is as depressing as it was refreshing. Depressing because his life was so stilted, probably because of his mother, read the first installment The Last Train to Memphis, and refreshing because he is seen as a human being. This story made me cry at places, honestly I think Elvis spent life looking for his mother. I would recommend this book that is the second installment and the first book I mentioned above for both fans and detractors of Elvis Presley you will not be disappointed by them no matter what camp you are in.

Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas's epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare's greatest plays. 'Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything.

Brilliant
Revisado: 05-04-14
Would you listen to William Shakespeare's Star Wars again? Why?
Yes, without a doubt. The performance drew me into the story. Not everyone will like it, but I loved it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character and always has is Darth Vader. He is mysterious, (well before he became a cute blond boy with a bad hair cut), ruthless and knows how to get a job done, but these are not the reasons I like him. Vader is the symbol that even the worst of us, (me), can find redemption.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Variety. I know I can make up the possible voices inside my mind but listening to the different characters provides that variety. I still enjoy reading the books. I have a kindle fire, I get whisper sync with professional narration. Speaking of which, when will these books become whisper sync?
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I have always had extreme reactions to Star Wars ever since I was a kid and experienced Star Wars for the first time, I still have extreme reactions as if I read or watched or listened for the first time. Star Wars had and still has a way of capturing my imagination and holding it for long periods of time.
Any additional comments?
If you love Shakespeare, you will love this audio book and the second one which is also on Audible and I am waiting for The Jedi Returneth to come out and starting to get impatient.I do recommend this book if for nothing else a means to get away for a while and learn the proper King James language and expand your vocabulary.

Enjoy this series
Revisado: 12-04-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Emerald Talisman to be better than the print version?
Yes, I like audio over print due to my busy schedule and prefer the spoken word over music or especially TV
What other book might you compare The Emerald Talisman to and why?
Sookie Stackhouse, because the main character is strong and when the main character gets issues from life she stands straight backed and tall. She has an ability that helps give her an edge over those who wish to do her harm.
Somewhat Twilight except when she has an issue with the opposite sex she has a reasonable time of sadness she does not drone on and on for chapters being depressed and throwing pity parties and disrupting the lives of everyone around her and her life does not end when one she had issues with does not see her.
I know I am being vague but I do not want to give too much info I like the entire series and do not want to ruin it for anyone.
What about Mary Morgan’s performance did you like?
her careful reading and her professional behavior on the mic.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When she learned of her mother and the part the object of her affection had in trying to help her mother.
Any additional comments?
I am getting impatient waiting for the next two books in the series.
I gave only a little bit of information as to not ruin the book for anyone. I enjoyed this series and I want others to enjoy it too.
