Historia
The Great War is over - but in Ireland, in the wake of the bloody 1916 Easter Rising, anyone who served in France is now considered a traitor, including Nurse Eileen Flynn and former soldier Michael Sullivan, who only want to be married in the small, isolated village where she grew up. Even her grandmother is against it, and Eileen’s only protection is her cousin Terrence, who was a hero of the Rising and is still being hunted by the British.

Gave up at chapter 8
Revisado: 03-22-24
This narrator’s voice lacks energy and is too mature-sounding for Bess. Couldn’t get interested in the story or the characters. Perhaps the series has just run its course - at least for me. Long ago decided Simon was gay!

Historia
When Amy and Effy Tribble, two charming but impoverished spinster sisters, lose out on a much needed inheritance, they place an advertisement in The Morning Post and hire themselves out as professional chaperones. Vowing to prepare even the most difficult misses for marriage, the Tribble sisters will spend a London season on each client in this delightful Regency series, The School for Manners. Felicity Baronsheath, their first assignment, turns out to be more of a challenge than they ever imagined.

Delightful narration
Revisado: 05-27-22
Flosnik’s Geraldine McEwan-like narration perfect for this comedic romp. Particularly her delightful imitation of the fox hunting horn!

Historia
In the spring of 1853, Private Detective Laetitia Rodd receives a delicate request from a retired actor, whose days on the stage were ended by a theatre fire 10 years before. His great friend, and the man he rescued from the fire, Thomas Transome, has decided to leave his wife, who now needs assistance in securing a worthy settlement. Though Mrs. Rodd is reluctant to get involved with the scandalous world of the theatre, she cannot turn away the woman in need. She agrees to take the case.

Unfortunate casting
Revisado: 01-31-22
The narrator’s girlish voice and gushing delivery was all wrong for Mrs. Rodd. And there was too little variation for the other characters. Made it difficult to stay engaged with the story.
