Historia
By the time she was in her teens, Diamond had lived dozens of lives and lies, but as she grew older, love and trust turned to fear and violence, and her family—the only people she had in the world—began to unravel. She started to realize that her life itself might be a big con, and the people she loved, the most dangerous of all. With no way out and her identity burned so often that she had no proof she even existed, all that was left was a girl from nowhere.

Epic childhood!
Revisado: 04-24-23
I had a crazy childhood, not like this though! I was captivated by the story from the beginning. Cheryl is an amazing human and I’m truly impressed by what she has achieved and overcome.
Her writing is a natural thing, it has a lovely flow. I haven’t read her 1st book, Model. But I will buy it now.
She writes an inspiring story. Get it!

Inspiring life story
Revisado: 03-19-23
Jessica writes beautifully about her life. It has parts where extreme cruelty is done to her, yet she conquers and rises above it all. Amazing woman!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
What is a “normal family,” and how do you go about making one? Chrysta Bilton’s magnetic, larger-than-life mother, Debra, yearned to have a child, but as a single gay woman in 1980s California, she had few options. Until one day, while getting her hair done in a Beverly Hills salon, she met a man and instantly knew he was the one she’d been looking for. Beautiful, athletic, artistic, and from a well-to-do family, Jeffrey Harrison appeared to be Debra’s ideal sperm donor.

Reading about or listening to peoples stories of their families that are messier than mine always comfort me somehow. I marveled at the resilience of the author and the sad yet endearing and comical childhood she relates.
Chrysta has an epic family story she tells beautifully. Bravo!

Surprising fun
Revisado: 07-30-22
I have to say, I get bored easily, I did not get bored with this book. For me it was fun all the way through. Some of the narration was a bit over the top, but it goes with the story, it keeps growing. I did not see the duel protagonists coming but loved it!

Historia
In 1978, two corpses were discovered in the sea off Guatemala. Hooded, bound with ropes and weighted down with heavy engine parts, Chris Farmer and his girlfriend Peta Frampton were thrown from a yacht on which they had been crewing. This is the gripping account of how Chris's family painstakingly gathered evidence against the boat's Californian skipper, Silas Duane Boston, working alongside the FBI, Interpol, and police in the UK and the USA. Almost four decades later in 2015, there was a major breakthrough in the case when, using Facebook, Chris's sister Penny tracked Boston down.

hard to listen to for many reasons- spoiler!
Revisado: 01-20-22
The reading of this book was cringeworthy. It could have been much improved with a different narrator. Since it all takes place in Baton Rouge and Louisiana, and all the characters are from the deep south it makes no sense that the narrator doesn't speak with a southern accent. More of a New York accent with hard gs... And so much whispering.
I didn't like the protagonist, she is weak and self absorbed. Honestly the reason I kept listening, halfheartedly, was because I was hoping it would have a really good twist at the end. Like the murderer being the protagonist! And I mean halfway listened, I often listen to audible while I work in the kitchen and do various chores. Due to the whispery delivery, I missed a lot, but I didn't, because the protagonist really rambles on and on.
The ultimate reveal was not a surprise.

Historia
In this love letter to the art of dance and the sport that has been her livelihood, NYCB’s first Asian American female soloist Georgina Pazcoguin lays bare her unfiltered story of leaving small-town Pennsylvania for New York City and training amid the unique demands of being a hybrid professional athlete/artist, all before finishing high school. She pitches us into the fascinating, whirling shoes of dancers in one of the most revered ballet companies in the world with an unapologetic sense of humor about the cutthroat, survival-of-the-fittest mentality at NYCB.

Revisado: 10-21-21
You don’t need to know anything about ballet to enjoy this book. The author reads the story delightfully! It’s a fun, suspenseful, life in the ballet, a journey very unique. As a former ballerina I can attest to the patriarchal and lily white world. I love her imitation of Peter Martins!!! Golden. This is a darkly funny book and glimpse into The elite ballet company of the world. Thank you Georgina for telling your story, you are making the world a better place.
