I finished this book a year ago and didn't leave a review until now, because i was awestruck. Now after the show has ended and a lot of my friends have watched it and read the book I am amazed at how many of them seem to miss the point. The story is about 2 families that live very different lives, there's the typical suburban mom with 4 kids and a part time job whose husband works all the time, and the single mom with an artistic flair and resourcefulness. The kids meet and become something like friends but not equals as far as the rich kids are concerned, and that goes double for the mothers. This is the main story while there is also a custody struggle between another rich family that means well and an immigrant who gave up her daughter. Based on how you feel about that particular story really says a lot about you, not to say one is better or more right than the other, just that it is a thought provoking B plot that really sets the underlying tone for the whole book. This book is not meant to be read on a short family vacation, it is meant to be consumed, discussed, and pondered, anything less is not giving it its proper due.

great narrating, action filled story with fun characters. strongly reccomend listening. when I got the first one I did it out of like for the author as opposed to interest in the time period, since then I have been in love with the Blood Clan.

different voices for the characters

I loved the book but after listening to the last 3 in immediate succession this one threw me off when the narrator was pronouncing names differently and using different voices than he had previously. aside from that still very enjoyable.

best one since the first edition!

I enjoyed this one more than I have the others since the first one. I think Clancy Brown as puppet man was perfect so that's probably the best part but the action was great too. plus minimal fortunato and a lot more into Golden Boy which i have always found to be a sympathetic character so it was nice to see a minor redemption arc for him.

I loved the story the narrator was good for the most part as well. I love all the world building and the consistancy of it between novels. this was a great insight into a character that you. met an earlier published novel but the story takes place before you met him which is nice to see who he was and who he is in later years.

not what I expected but still a great story

the book itself is a lot of fun and I knew that going in. the narrator sounded a little to snide to voice sharpe in my opinion and the recording was sounding rough and skipping in parts. not enough to ruin the story but enough to be an annoyance.

The narrators on their own were fine together though it made the story jumbled with characters having different voices constantly. also too much Fortunato please for the love of Jetboy let this be it for him for a while. hes creepy and off putting.
