Historia
For decades, researchers have chased a pharmaceutical cure for memory loss. But despite the fact that no disease-modifying biotech treatments have emerged, new research suggests that dementia rates have actually declined in the United States and Western Europe over the last decade. Why is this happening? And what does it mean for brain health in the future?

pretty good book
Revisado: 01-11-22
this is a pretty good book, I agree with the author's assessment that laissez-faire capitalism by its nature has a dampening effect on improvements in brain health. for myself none of the ideas were particularly new however, which is why I gave it three stars overall.

Historia
In a rare blend of scientific insight and writing as elegant as the theories it explains, Brian Greene, one of the world's leading string theorists, peels away the layers of mystery surrounding string theory to reveal a universe that consists of 11 dimensions where the fabric of space tears and repairs itself, and all matter-from the smallest quarks to the most gargantuan supernovas-is generated by the vibrations of microscopically tiny loops of energy.

really really fabulous book
Revisado: 04-18-19
I've read numerous books on quantum physics over the years and none have been so beautifully explained as they have been in this book. Thank you Brian Greene.

Historia
In the future, most of humanity lives in massive underground bunkers, producing weapons for the nuclear war they’ve fled. Constantly bombarded by patriotic propaganda, the citizens of these industrial anthills believe they are waiting for the day when the war will be over and they can return above ground. But when Nick St. James, president of one anthill, makes an unauthorized trip to the surface, what he finds is more shocking than anything he could imagine.

Prescient and perfect for our times

I read this book 35 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it again as an audiobook, here in the era of ' alternative facts.' Well worth a listen. Hilarious, horrible and masterful.
