Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Some Good Thoughts
Revisado: 03-13-25
The book was thought-provoking about women in particular being able to live honestly in their lives and minds; to figure out and be able to voice what they want. I didn’t care for the graphic sex words. I did like the humor.

Nice story but a little far-fetched.
Revisado: 12-18-24
I realize that because of Dolly Parton being involved in this book that the girl was going to make it as a star, that was no big surprise. Got a little tired of the “mystery” of her past.

Historia
When Marilyn Kleinman is caught making out with the rabbi’s son in front of the whole congregation, her parents ship her off to her great-aunt Ada for the summer. If anyone can save their daughter’s reputation, it’s Philadelphia’s strict premier matchmaker. Either that or Marilyn can kiss college goodbye. To Marilyn’s surprise, Ada’s not the humorless septuagenarian her mother described. Not with that platinum-blonde hair, Hermès scarf, and Cadillac convertible. She’s sharp, straight-talking, takes her job very seriously, and abides by her own rules…mostly.

Okay, but not great.
Revisado: 12-18-24
I liked the characters, but I got a little weary of the sarcastic banter. The lesbian relationship was clearly no surprise as it was hinted at several times.

Historia
Failed Pitbull impersonator Ismael Reyes—you can call him Izzy—might not be the Scarface type, but why should that keep him from trying? Growing up in Miami has shaped him into someone who dreams of being the King of the 305, with the money, power, and respect he assumes comes with it. After finding himself at the mercy of a cease-and-desist letter from Pitbull’s legal team and living in his aunt’s garage, Izzy embarks on an absurd quest to turn himself into a modern-day Tony Montana.

Not my type of book
Revisado: 12-18-24
I didn’t like the way the story portrayed Miami. I’ve lived here for over 60 years. For several years, I lived near Hialeah and I never knew anyone that was even vaguely similar to the characters in the story.
I also thought the talk about the rising water issue in Miami was certainly not an issue back then.

Nice dog story.
Revisado: 07-03-24
The book was OK, just dragged on and on about the secret past until I didn’t really care anymore. The character of the dog was great and the part about the dog rescue I enjoyed a lot. The main character, Cara or Kara, is supposed to be 29 years old, but talks and thinks like she’s about 19 so it was a little unbelievable at times.

Historia
When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn't come as a surprise - or happen in front of 45,000 people. When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn't the hard part - they've only been dating for five months, and he can't even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans....

Silly and uninteresting
Revisado: 02-09-24
I thought the story was very silly and boring. The main focus appeared to be on food, sex and as a vehicle to promote interracial and gay relationships. Very shallow, inane banter. The characters seemed more like 19 year olds than adults.
