Historia
Tracing the extraordinary trajectory of Julius Caesar's life, Adrian Goldsworthy covers not only the great Roman emperor's accomplishments as charismatic orator, conquering general, and powerful dictator but also lesser-known chapters. Ultimately, Goldsworthy realizes the full complexity of Caesar's character and shows why his political and military leadership continues to resonate some 2,000 years later.

a good experience
Revisado: 06-19-24
I loved the discussion of his whole career and not just his time as the supreme leader. I do think that more time could have been spent on his ruling period though.

Solid book

I enjoyed the layout of the information. It was well formatted. I learned far more about how colonialism destroyed the future of several countries. I never really understood why sub-Saharan countries continually failed to flourish. Now I have a better beginning idea of what is going on.

A good listen
Revisado: 03-29-23
I found the book insightful and enlightening. I'll relisten to it in the near future. I love books that have plenty of nuance and thick information. I rewound a few sections and relistened to a few chapters to ensure I understood the information. I'd recommend.

Historia
Through perseverance, solid ingenuity, and unwavering determination, family-run companies - dynasties - have dominated wealth and business throughout the last two centuries. One third of Fortune 500 firms are family owned and, in most cases, the ideal of the family business is one synonymous with continuity, watchful leadership, and dedication to success. But what happens when bad behavior, extravagance, and laziness, all very real enemies of industry, are allowed to proliferate?

I was thinking this book was about dynasties.
Revisado: 03-25-23
This book was really about automotive history. I only learned a little about dynasties. I have also already read some of the source material books which were cited. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Historia
Comedian Kate Willett was married to a woman and thought she'd never have to deal with men again. That is, until she found herself dumped, suddenly single, and mystifyingly...mostly attracted to dudes. Like any good comic, she was inspired to investigate, and thus ensued her hilarious, sometimes high-stakes personal research into the world of men, culminating in a beautiful, difficult romance.

Honest
Revisado: 12-05-21
To write a good review or to appreciate what the book is you have to listen to the whole thing. I was initially put off when there was a broad brush stroke of "all guys do these things." As she advanced her story you could see she didn't believe that to be true. It still stings to hear it though.
