Even better than the first
Revisado: 08-07-18
Chamber of Secrets is the perfect sequel, while it doesn’t shy away from callbacks to the first book, it does so without being redundant and brings a ton of new material to the table. Not only does it build on everything established in the first book, it takes unique twists and becomes its own story while still being reminiscent of the first. Structurally, there are a lot of similarities to the original. But it takes twists away from what is expected, and established a much darker tone. An overlooked and underrated year in the Harry Potter series!

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Revisado: 08-06-18
Since everyone has already read Harry Potter, I’d lie to start by saying that the narration is superb and it’s a great excuse to revisit the books you know and love. For new readers, Year 1 is an incredible tale for all ages.

Historia
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel of the Roaring Twenties is beloved by generations of readers and stands as his crowning work. This new audio edition, authorized by the Fitzgerald estate, is narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain). Gyllenhaal's performance is a faithful delivery in the voice of Nick Carraway, the Midwesterner turned New York bond salesman, who rents a small house next door to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby....

A classic told beautifully
Revisado: 07-29-18
While this isn’t the best narration I’ve ever heard of Gatsby, it will do just fine. I like Jakes performance overall, albeit his monotone inflection doesn’t make a great Gatsby.
The important part is the book, and it’s still as vibrant and thrilling as it was when it was published. This book elegantly depicts the 1920s, and believe it or not your high school English teacher was right! It is a very important book. So rather it’s for newcomers or returning guests, enjoy.

Whether he's sneaking doughnuts, mooning over a pretty girl, or snookering the local boys to do his work for him, Tom Sawyer is the consummate schemer - but his charm and easygoing nature keep him from being in anyone's bad graces for long. However, when Tom teams up with his friend Huck Finn, their sleepy Missouri town had better watch out.

Brilliant and Timeless
Revisado: 06-15-18
Wow, what is there to say about Tom Sawyer really? It’s an iconic must-read for anyone. Everyone knows the fence scene even if they haven’t read the book.
When reading classics, a great deal of them are serious dramas, filled with melancholy and hardship. So as a nice counter balance to that, check out Tom Sawyer. It’s a fun, loving and thought provoking novel that will make you reminisce on the joys of childhood.
Since Tom is a 5/5 obviously let’s talk about the narrator, I found his voices for the characters funny and accurate to my pre internal voice for the characters. His narration makes revisiting the series feel new and exciting.

While I already knew practically everything said in the book, and while most of it is common sense? It’s helpful and inspiring to hear. Gives you the little boost you may need, although the PDF mentioned in the beginning was a false advertisement.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

King Gets Back To His Roots in a Story That Hits the Ground Running
Revisado: 05-23-18
With many of his recent novels, King takes a lot of risks and travels outside his comfort zone in both genre and subject matter.
The Outsider is classic King, the King that most of his fans want but that all of his fans enjoy. Where something like Sleeping Beauties will have a mixed reaction from fans, this will be something everyone can enjoy. Out of all of Kings books, I think this is definitely in the upper echelon of his content. Relentlessly fast-moving and the first third of the book is full throttle the entire way through.
Very satisfying ending, and twists that only a reader of Kings past work will get. But in a way that doesn’t detract from the story for new readers.

Historia
The final novel of one of America’s most beloved writers - a tale of degeneration, corruption, and spiritual crisis. A Penguin Classic In awarding John Steinbeck the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Nobel committee stated that with The Winter of Our Discontent, he had “resumed his position as an independent expounder of the truth, with an unbiased instinct for what is genuinely American". Ethan Allen Hawley, the protagonist of Steinbeck’s last novel, works as a clerk in a grocery store that his family once owned.

Steinbecks Best Work Since Grapes of Wrath
Revisado: 05-21-18
Other than GoW this has always been my favorite Steinbeck novel. With its modern setting and relatable situations, the story is very enthralling. While much shorter than some of his other works, Winter is concise and hard hitting. Not sense Grapes of Wrath has Steinbeck created such a master piece. The novel dives into how poorly we can treat one another over the prospect of money. Similar themes to GoW
A must listen for any Steinbeck reader, and a wonderful start for someone who has never read his work.

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Steinbecks Best Work & A Must Read for Any Reader
Revisado: 05-21-18
The Grapes of Wrath is not only a compelling and entertaining piece of literature, but it’s gripping portrayal of The Great Depression makes it an extremely important book for both literary and educational purposes.
With vivid and lovable characters, the story of the Joads is both inspiring and heart wrenching. Easily one of the best books of all time, if you’re put off by classics the language is also extremely accessible to the average reader.
For anyone like myself who has read the book many times over:
The performance is marvelous. The audio production of the book makes if a wonderful way to revisit a favorite novel. I really enjoyed not both the narration and the accompanying music.

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Revisado: 05-12-18
Although no where near his best book, after a read through and several listens Sleeping Beauties is a marvelous novel with something poignant to say. With funny and witty dialogue and the monumental moment of King collaborating with his son Owen for the first time, this is a must read for any King fan.
