Historia
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Depressing story with worse characters
Revisado: 02-09-23
To be honest, I didn’t finish the book, but was close to the end. I realized that the book was depressing and was actually making me sad. Not to mention that all the characters were not good people.

Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Rambling, somewhat boring story that I couldn’t stop listening to

The narration was excellent. The story was all over the place and while I would say I didn’t enjoy it, it did keep my attention the longer I got into it.

Historia
At first glance, Josh Hanagarne seems an improbable librarian. He stands 6'7", competes in strongman contests, and was diagnosed in high school with Tourette's syndrome. But books are his first love - Josh's earliest memories involve fantastic adventures between the pages of Gulliver’s Travels and a passionate infatuation with Fern from Charlotte’s Web. Everything in Josh’s life - from his Mormon upbringing, to finally finding love, to learning to control his tics through lifting - circles back to a close connection with books.

Terrible story
Revisado: 08-17-22
The most annoying aspect of this book is that most of the book is just manufactured drama. For example, the main character sees a spider, she would then wonder if it’s poisonous, is it going to kill her? Why did she sacrifice all this for a spider to kill her? Over 75% of the book are these annoying speculations. Additionally, the main character doesn’t have any common sense, which causes her speculate about a number of topics that make no sense. Just an annoying book to get through. I still can’t believe I finished it, but I do like to finish all the books I started.

Annoying and frustrating book that should have been a short story
Revisado: 06-01-22
The narration was excellent, but most of the audiobook (9 out of 11 hours) was just buildup. The last two hours were good, but the rest of the book was full of false flags. The author would create these scenarios (on no my husband and kid are in trouble) that would be a false flag. After 9 hours of these false flags, I was ready to just be over with the book. The ending was good, but by that time it was too late. This book could have been a short story or, at minimum, cut in half.

Historia
Pistol is more than the biography of a ballplayer. It's the stuff of classic novels: the story of a boy transformed by his father's dream and the cost of that dream. Even as Pete Maravich became Pistol Pete, a basketball icon for baby boomers, all the Maraviches paid a price. Now acclaimed author Mark Kriegel has brilliantly captured the saga of an American family: its rise, its apparent ruin, and, finally, its redemption.

Very negative story of Pistol Pete
Revisado: 05-10-22
Well researched and does tell the story of Pistol Pete. However, the author took a very negative and depressing slant on Pistol Pete’s life. Even at the end, when the author begrudgingly had to admit Pete turned his life around, the story was overly focused on Pete’s fathers cancer, and how the natural remedies Pete recommended did not work. Overall, it was good to see the dark side of Pete, but I wouldn’t recommend this book, as it was overly negative.
