Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Really, really good!
Revisado: 12-24-20
This was much better than I expected. It was one of those books that I looked forward to listening to and had a hard time stopping. I did not want it to end although I was very pleased with the resolution, which surprised me.

Historia
Dave Robicheaux has spent his life confronting the age-old adage that the sins of the father pass on to the son. But what was his mother's legacy? Dead to him since his youth, Mae Guillory has been shuttered away in the deep recesses of Robicheaux's mind. While helping out an old friend, Dave is stunned when a pimp looks at him sideways and asks if he is the son of Mae Guillory, the whore a bunch of cops murdered 30 years ago. Her body was dumped in the bayou bordering Purple Cane Road, and the cops who left her there are still on the job.

I miss Will Patton
Revisado: 10-26-19
Story was great, as always, but the narrator left a lot to be desired. Didn’t sound at all like the cast of characters.

Historia
Detective Dave Robicheaux’s world isn’t filled with too many happy stories, but Desmond Cormier’s rags-to-riches tale is certainly one of them. Robicheaux first met Cormier on the streets of New Orleans, when the young, undersized boy had foolish dreams of becoming a Hollywood director. Twenty-five years later, when Robicheaux knocks on Cormier’s door, it's to ask about a young woman he found who’s been crucified. She disappeared near Cormier’s Cyrpemort Point estate, and Robicheaux, along with young Deputy Sean McClain, are looking for answers.

How is it possible that he keeps getting better?
Revisado: 03-03-19
Burke is one of my favorite authors and I have eagerly awaited this novel. He does not disappoint. The characters, his mastery of language, plot, everything-is simply mind boggling. Patton imbues each character with its own persona. Makes me want to go back to the beginning of the series -again-and listen to them all!

Fabulous

Burke has a magnificent command of the language. Dark, but oh, so satisfying! And still, I also laughed out loud several times. He’ll always be one of my favorite writers.

I took Audible up on an offer of a free book. Not my usual genre but I enjoyed it greatly. Fast moving plots, interesting characters, well developed. Look forward to more in the series and more by the author.
