Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

Heavy going, but a must read

Any additional comments?
The opening chapter is easily one of the best I've read. The stories are deep and moving, though some are quite heavy and maybe not recommended for the light hearted. The ending is a little drawn out, and I know some that were left confused and a little irritated by a seeming turnabout. This book is nevertheless a must read for everyone, giving a very brutal interpretation on war that is seldom covered in this manner.

Much better than an already good movie
Revisado: 09-20-15
Any additional comments?
Firstly the book and movie are almost separate entities and seeing/reading one should not exclude doing the other. The book is nicely structured with a rare level of dramatic irony playing out believably. The narration is good, creating different personalities for each character allowing for conversations with multiple characters to be easily followed but not pulling you out of the story with some over dramatic tone or accent. The story tends to be quite intense though and a fair level of concentration is required to follow the diverse number of characters.

Slow and very drawn out in the end
Revisado: 09-20-15
Any additional comments?
Given the time at which this book is written (and it really needs to be considered when listening so as to understand it a little better), this is a very good story. The look into human nature in such a post apocolyptic event is very interesting. The story is very drawn out in the end, the last couple hours being more of an epilogue that doesnt really add much or finish off too many storylines

Historia
If you’ve done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe? Which is exactly what the crew of the Heart of Gold plan to do. There’s just the small matter of escaping the Vogons, avoiding being taken to the most totally evil world in the Galaxy and teaching a space ship how to make a proper cup of tea. And did anyone actually make a reservation?

Martin Freeman ruined this book series for me
Revisado: 09-20-15
Any additional comments?
The interpretation of the characters I found really off, especially following Stephen Fry's interpretations for the first book. While I've read the books previously and thoroughly enjoyed them - the story is brilliant - Martins reading put me off and i couldnt even get through it.

Historia
When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface in July of 1969, they wore spacesuits made by Playtex: 21 layers of fabric, each with a distinct yet interrelated function, custom-sewn for them by seamstresses whose usual work was fashioning bras and girdles. This book is the story of that spacesuit. It is a story of the triumph over the military-industrial complex by the International Latex Corporation, best known by its consumer brand of "Playtex" - a victory of elegant softness over engineered hardness, of adaptation over cybernetics.

Like a giant collection of "did you know" facts
Revisado: 09-20-15
Any additional comments?
Great collection of facts. Things to tend to seemingly go off track quite quickly, not appearing to be related to the overall topic but they are brought back in an interesting way. The last hour or so is a little unnecessary and once the book covers the return of the astronauts you will not be missing out on much by skipping the rest.
