Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Phenomenal

I felt every single painful moment along with Frankie. I never knew women who served in Vietnam were all dismissed and treated so wrongly. I loved this book even though it was heartbreaking.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Frustrating but good
Revisado: 11-09-24
Shilo and Carey were so frustrating and stubborn. Can someone please explain to me why in all the time that Carey was away at deployment Shilo never once offered to help or go see Carey’s mom? I mean they lived only blocks away! Not to mention when she was recovering from her hip surgery!!! This left me with too many unanswered questions.

I still can’t get over how amazing this book was. Such great detail in the storytelling. I already miss this book being part of my morning walks. Lenny’s character was heroic to me. I would read it again.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Outstanding
Revisado: 08-04-24
I loved the series and I was nervous about reading the book after watching it because usually the book is always better. I honestly think that both were done perfectly. There is nothing I would change on either. This is a beautiful story that touched my soul on so many different levels. I’m sad it’s over. But I will definitely be reading and watching this again and again.

The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

I am not sure why this book got good reviews. I finally stopped at chapter 12. The only part that was interesting for me was the special ops guys hunting for the “bad guys” it’s a no for me.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Historia
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Lost interest
Revisado: 09-17-23
I really tried to finish this book and just couldn’t. I think it may be more appealing as a movie.
I also could not get passed the heavy pause in breathing that the male narrator had. It was so loud and distracting.
I wanted to like and finish this book very badly. I’m so disappointed.
