Historia
Wealthy society maven Lady Gertrude knows how the world works. If her husband is less than faithful, it’s an acceptable price to pay for her coveted position at the apex of London’s most fashionable set. No exclusive soirée or lavish ball is complete without her and her group of decadent, well-connected friends. And this Season promises more excitement than usual: Tru is launching her daughter into Society, helping her navigate the cutthroat Marriage Mart, complete with fortune hunters, jealous debutantes, and malicious gossips.

Interesting story but it took 6 hours and 8 minutes of story building to get to a point where Jasper and True both expressed overtly any feelings towards each other. There was still a slow process to finally reach the page turning conclusion. I score a one on heat. But the story does give a good historical perspective of the times and decent character development of all the different people involved with True and Jasper. If those types of stories are interesting to you it’s worth a credit.

My favorite romance of all time!
Revisado: 10-09-22
Whenever I need to step away from the stressors in my life, I always read a romance with a HEA. I listen as I walk or I hide away for some quiet reflection. But, what I loved most about this article is the facts laced within it. The female lead as brilliant and the powerful but principled man! It has it all: interesting, intelligent, historical but most of all deeply felt love between this leads! I have read hundreds of historical romance novels. I’ve learned so much about historical topics that I never would have read about on their own but throw in “two halves of a whole” and I’m in! Buy it, read it, you won’t regret it!

Slow and dry at times but interesting
Revisado: 09-22-22
It’s a good story but it seems to take a long time to get to something that grabs you. The history in it taught me things I didn’t know about Jamaica. It has been commented on recently in the news with Kate and Will’s visit there and some tension that remain. Overall, it’s worth a credit.

Sweet story
Revisado: 08-02-22
It was a sweet story with touches of some sad realities of life. But the passion was missing. It seems like it could have had more depth there. It’s not just when they say they feel something but give an example of it. It doesn’t have to be explicitly sexual but it does need to evoke that feeling.

Does Jamie have to suffer so much?
Revisado: 06-19-22
The story is interesting but the harshness Jamie the wonderful young man has to take is horrific! Claire is just meh for me! I pushed to finish this. I had to take breaks. My heart could not take it all in at times. I’m not sure I can make through another one but I am curious some what happens next.

Great story with depth
Revisado: 05-22-22
Mary Balogh is a wonderful storyteller. She puts a touch of reality. My only problem with this book is that the 18 year old Morgan seems to know way more than an 18 year-old that had been virtually raised alone should understand about these very mature scenarios. Otherwise the story is so detailed that I could often imagine being there!

Imaginative details and story but..
Revisado: 05-17-22
Mary Balogh is a great story teller and Rosalyn is my top two narrator but sometimes the reality woven in makes the lead female character “Free” not so lovely. I never could find much about her endearing. She has great lineage as was expected of the time, she is rich and only barely past ugly and haughty with maybe some deep deep kindness? Ok, but still not feeling her as a great catch. Josh on the other hand was a dream.

Slow not believable
Revisado: 04-05-22
Ending very far from what history would say on topics such as this. Trying not to ruin it for those who want to read it.Also, little too much on the erotic side for my taste. Not interested in reading even any of that stuff. I read this genre for the valor, romance, strength of the characters, and a window in the history of the time. The voice is too American and too old for young 20 year old girls. I wanted to like this story because the first book was unique. It’s also boring.

Good story
Revisado: 02-22-22
Respect for the main characters and their ability to overcome and thrive was a theme I really liked in this story. Mystery and intrigue were plentiful plus the romance was hard won. The performance ad usual with Derek Perkins was perfect. If he is the narrator it makes any story better!
