An enthralling account of a modern voyage of discovery as we meet the clever, social birds of prey called caracaras, which puzzled Darwin, fascinate modern-day falconers, and carry secrets of our planet's deep past in their family history.

A Most Remarkable Book.
Revisado: 06-23-22
This book is a gift for which I am most grateful. Thoughtful, well researched. Eye opening narrative blending insights into biological as well as social evolution surrounding this fascinating and under appreciated family of birds. A back burner target bird on a recent trip to Florida, but will move to front burner status going forward.

Disappointed in narration.
Revisado: 04-08-21
Book is a nice addition to the history and context of the Bigfoot phenomenon, especially in North America. I’d recommend it for those interested in a relatively objective narrative. Lots of anecdotes, though some were only very briefly summarized, perhaps because there wasn’t much more to them; not sure.
You might want to read rather than listen. Admittedly a very subjective taste, I found the narrator’s voice irritating, coming across to me as somewhat pretentious, preachy self important, and smug.
