We all know Shakespeare’s classic ghost story—the young prince Hamlet’s dead father appears to him, demanding vengeance upon Hamlet’s uncle Claudius, who has usurped the throne and, to add insult to injury, married Hamlet’s mother.

TRIGGER ALERT FOR THIS BOOK
Revisado: 09-11-22
I love everything by Card. This one doesn't disappoint. There are triggering topics, though. A truly creative take on Hamlet with all of the Card dialogue and philosophical thought that you expect from Card.

Read review before agreeing to my rating
Revisado: 09-11-22
Overall, I would say entertaining but not quite to the point of enjoyment. I like suspenseful and a little scary, but not horror. This successfully walked on my side of the line. There were some really creative moments and plot points.
1. It too closely resembled a mash-up of Stephen King's Dark Tower series and his and Peter Straub's The Talisman. So much so that it didn't feel like an independently creative work.
2. The narrator was good, but NOT for this novel. The novel needed a different style of voice performance. The dry, dead-pan humor that was needed for this novel fell really short.

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

Absolutely Stunning
Revisado: 03-18-21
Her story is already heartbreaking. Who could ever guess that this beautifully developed point of view would make it even more so.

Narrator ruins the barely tolerable book
Revisado: 12-05-20
Narrator's performance is one of the worst I've heard. Her affect for the storyline narration is very unnatural and her character diologue is even worse; it is completely over-acted. Her voices for characters are not great. Her normal pronounceation of the morpheme "-tten" is in stark contrast to the affect she provides for the "nobel" sounding characters.
I don't read a lot of romance novels and maybe they're all this poorly written and with no character development. This book had a predictable and innane plot and reads more like and inappropriate YA novel than an adult romance.

Plot interesting, writing not.
Revisado: 03-15-19
I struggled through this book only because I wanted to see how he developed the plot line. the writing is amateurish at best. The performance is ok but not great. I suggest you read a more in depth synopsis than the book itself.

Dialogue not great but plot was really interesting
Revisado: 08-06-18
This novel was a really good mix of present and future. The plot seemed like it could be set in the not so distant future (within my life time). I thought there was a great play on the discussion of artificial intelligence as well as discrimination and class structure. Interesting read. Kept my attention throughout.
