Historia
In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, America's most trusted authority on family issues, tackles these questions and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. Bringing Up Boys is a must-hear book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, and counselors—anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.

Good parts and not so good parts
Revisado: 09-17-24
I found it has good content and also thought-provoking but also quite challenging in several areas. The book presents its claims with limited sourcing, which raises questions about the evidence supporting its arguments. Additionally, the text often overlooks the diversity of expert opinions on its topics. Educators and scholars may have differing views, and it would be helpful to explore these counterpoints to provide a more balanced perspective.
Of particular concern is the treatment of homosexuality within the book. It portrays homosexuality in a manner that seems to pathologize it or suggest it needs treatment, which contradicts contemporary understanding and acceptance. This perspective is inconsistent with the compassion and inclusivity often associated with Catholic teachings.
Furthermore, the book appears to be inconsistent in its discussion of gender roles. On one hand, it emphasizes traditional male and female roles as prescriptive, while on the other, it advocates for allowing children to pursue their individual talents, regardless of traditional gender expectations. This contradiction may confuse readers about the book’s stance on gender and talent development.
Overall, while the book raises important issues, its approach may benefit from a more nuanced and evidence-based perspective. I really like the religious perspective and the tips to grow strong confident boys.

Historia
A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Own the past whatever that has been we can’t change it but we can choose to live the future and the present. This book motivated me to put my wants into my own and not others. Enjoy what I have.
Thank you for your story, very amazing explaining it without details about religion yet is everything that many religions tell us to do.
Thank you thank you

Historia
Computer technology has improved exponentially over the last 50 years. But the headroom for bigger and better electronic solutions is running out. Our best hope is to engage the power of quantum physics. “Quantum algorithms” had already been written long before hardware was built. These would enable, for example, a quantum computer to exponentially speed up an information search or crack the mathematical trick behind internet security.

I should have read the reviews…
Revisado: 02-26-22
The title is, as the author says, a “marketing stunt” as it spends less than half of the book on the topic and is n that half, it doesn’t go into enough detail to be called only “quantum computers”.
It is a great survey of how computers work from birth until now but is not a book about quantum computers.
It would receive 4 stars if the title would have been written more according to the content.

Historia
The grid is an accident of history and of culture, in no way intrinsic to how we produce, deliver and consume electrical power. Yet this is the system the United States ended up with, a jerry-built structure now so rickety and near collapse that a strong wind or a hot day can bring it to a grinding halt. The grid is now under threat from a new source: renewable and variable energy, which puts stress on its logics as much as its components.

Very informative and good technical and business reading
Revisado: 02-16-22
Great way to express the value of what connects us to our electricity.
My only two points of feedback are;
1. Explanation of electricity can use some work to make it more similar to other forms of energy like kinetic, thermal, etc.
2. Wireless as a future is not expanded and the efficiency of the transmission is quite low so it should not be mentioned and kept unexplained.

Historia
What entrepreneur or founder doesn't aspire to build the next Amazon, Facebook, or Airbnb? Yet those who actually manage to do so are exceedingly rare. So what separates the start-ups that get disrupted and disappear from the ones who grow to become global giants? The secret is blitzscaling: a set of techniques for scaling up at a dizzying pace that blows competitors out of the water.

Great wish it had more of…
Revisado: 11-24-21
Wish it covered more ethical issues when blitzscaling and what are good guardrails to do this in a way that takes the environment, mental health, equality and diversity as part of the model. Most of the book is to maximize profits only which is good but not the only measure of success. There is one section about non-profits and that could have been a lot longer.
In a way, it remind me of Dr. Seuss the Lorax

5. Alternativas a salir de este ciclo.

Would love to hear an updated version of this book with more emphasis of the phycology of the times and how that has played a role in what we consider “leadership”.
