Probably the biggest waste of time I can take credit for in at least five years - and that would include the Covid time where watching bread rise was a highlight. I guess the days when a James Patterson book could be counted on to be at least entertaining are over. Sad.

Love the story (the series) this far. Well written, entertaining and believable. Only the pronunciation of some words like celebratory (see above) and praduce (produce) are a bit jarring.

Maybe good for dog over people persons.

Completely unbelievable storyline unless you think a human would care more about a dog surviving a blast than her human partner who is also supposedly an old friend? Also, when did we get an IED problem in Colorado? When do you decide to drag your unconscious, bleeding partner to a nearby clearing before radioing for the helivac you know you need? Oh and let us check the slightly wounded dog over for injury BEFORE doing any of this... What a load of poorly written fiction. I could not get past chapter 3. Even with the 72 percent discount this book was over-priced.

The pornographic focus

The story was interesting and that is why I chose to read this sorry excuse for a book, but even that became unbelievable! She goes to use her credit card and he gives her a lecture about how they can be traced. Then she secretly uses her cell phone and the bad cops don't show up immediately? Oh, and she gets turned on my the "hard body" of her kidnapper and possible rapist?!! WTF! Save your credits and your cash! Give this one a pass.

Disappointed.

Main character (PI) was weak minded and disappointing. The strong, manipulative character with an evil streak gets what she wanted and we are left hanging about what happens to the PI. Overall a waste of time. Worth the $0 it cost me. Well, maybe not.

Not as good as other Nora Robert’s books. Really disliked the ending which ensures you will have to buy the trilogy to know ‘what happens’. Would have preferred more believable story overall like with other good romance/mysteries she has written in the past like Angel Falls, The Collector and Whiskey Beach. This book reads like a slightly different version of Midnight Bayou.

Engaging story

1960 was the year I was born. Women’s rights have come a long way. This story reminds us how far we have come, how far we have left to go and how important it is to be ever vigilant about safe guarding our basic human rights. Oh- it was also an entertaining read!

I can put up with some conservative rhetoric because I like military action adventure and spy thrillers. Thriller this is NOT! A sleeper maybe. Way too much background, thinking process, and BS. Very disappointing. End of the road for this series for me!

Narrator ruins the story.

I am returning this book without reading the whole thing because I just cannot abide the narration. She uses too much false alarm and her characters sound unbelievable. She narrated with both an Irish and a New Yooork accent which is also weird - not the characters, the narrator. Anyway I lost interest in the story which may have been good.
