Meet the members of the Equinox Society: Claire, a caustic but compassionate demonologist; Amanda, a witch who wants to help; William, an occultist living in a haunted brownstone; and other ordinary people who share a fascination with the bizarre and otherworldly. Their reports explore private fears and personal demons, offering glimpses of the nightscape all of us inhabit. A troubled vampire who stalks an abandoned shopping mall. A dead teen who emails from the past. An arsonist who starts real fires with her dreams.

Really good and enjoyable for what it is
Revisado: 03-29-23
This is a collection of stories in which the main characters are connected, but you could listen to any of the short stories in any order without confusion. I understand why some reviews state dislike of this, as it is not one flowing, cohesive storyline, but it is really good and enjoyable for what it is.
I selected this listen for something that would allow my thoughts to drift occasionally and not get too lost, while simultaneously not allowing those thoughts to drift too far or too long. This is a great listen when you are looking for something interesting but where you won't get too attached to any of the characters. (For me personally, it was great for helping me stay focused while getting things done around the house.)
Performance was great, and the transition music kind of reminded me of the Oracle series by Andrew Pyper/narrated by Joshua Jackson.
Overall, recommend as a light listen.

Historia
As a young man, Randall Woodfield had it all; he was a star athlete with good looks and an award-winning student. Working in the swinging West Coast bar scene, he had more than his share of women. But he wanted more than just sex. An appetite for unspeakable violent acts led him to cruise the I-5 highway through California to Washington, leaving a trail of victims along the way. As the list of the dead grew, the police mobilized to stop a twisted killer who had 44 known deaths to his name.

Great Book
Revisado: 02-03-23
This was a great book, very informative and very detailed. I would definitely recommend, though be aware that the sex crimes are described in detail enough appropriate to get across the depth of evil of this individual, and the 911 call from one of the survivors of his crimes is recounted word for word in the first person. Knowing these things I still would have listened to this book, though I would have much rather been prepared for them beforehand, and so wanted to give others the heads up.

Really Great Story!
Revisado: 01-30-23
Really enjoyable listen! (Though ends with a mild cliffhanger.)
I really liked this production, the storyline was interesting and both detailed and face paced, and the narrators were all wonderful. I would definitely listen to a continuation of the story should they ever do one.

Historia
Meet the Wolf. Joe Wolf. He’s the head of a multibillion-dollar empire—a newspaper, a holding company, a football team—and the head of a family that puts King Lear to shame. His empire shows signs of crumbling when he’s approached with an “offer” to sell. It’s clear from the start that Joe is going to pay the ultimate price—and maybe more—if he refuses.

Preview to the book, not that interesting
Revisado: 01-24-23
A little bummed. I've been a fan of James Patterson since I was younger and started the Maximum Ride books (the first three), and have read a great many of his books since then. This one, regrettably, did not catch my interest at all. If you are into football, or storylines being told from the perspective of a giant ***** (many expletive nouns would easily fit there, so take your pick), then perhaps you will like it. And, hopefully, the rest of the actual book is better than this except. I do not own to devote any more time to it to find out though.

The world has changed. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

So very badly wish these were longer! This series and the concepts it sets forth are very intriguing, and the writing and narration are superb! I couldn't put it down, but simultaneously was dismayed when I'd finished the book in one go. Hope there will be another!

Good Listen
Revisado: 01-15-23
For me, the book seemed to start out a little slow, but after having read such good reviews of it I hung on, and am glad that I did. Both the book and the narration were very good. There were times when I wasn't entirely sure if the main character was speaking aloud to those around her, or if she was just thinking to herself, so some parts were momentarily mildly confusing, but now enough to distract from good, solid content of the storyline. Recommend.

Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

So Good!
Revisado: 01-13-23
Loved this book! Started it in the morning and enjoyed it so much that I stayed up until about 2am to finish it straight through. The premise was very interesting, and the narrator was great for this role. I also love when they bounce between different characters' perspectives, which Coben did here, and did so well (3 seperate characters, I believe).
Have been wanting to read/listen to Harlan Coben's books for a while now, and it definitely lived up to the praise he's received!
Fully recommend

Historia
Retiring prosecutor Jessica Yardley can’t turn down one last investigation. This time, it’s a set of murders inspired by a series of grisly paintings called The Night Things. She’s the only one who can catch the killer, who’s left a trail of bodies in a rural community outside of Las Vegas. But the more Jessica finds out, the less clear her case becomes. Out of options, she’s forced to consult her serial killer ex-husband - to gain additional insight into the crimes and the killer’s motivations.

Love this narrator & author
Revisado: 01-05-23
This narrator + author team are wonderful. They completely immerse you in the storyline, and make it very difficult to pause the book at all. I have listened to books on Audible that I may have enjoyed had I sat down and read them, but the narrators just made me cringe. Bethany Pressley, however, does a superb job maintaining unique and consistent (and genuine-sounding) voices for all of the characters, giving them each their own cadence, and keeps the story moving. If crime novels are your genre, then 100% recommend.

Fantastic Storyline!
Revisado: 12-29-22
This was a captivating, gripping, twisted read, and I am eager to begin the sequel. The narrator was wonderful and made the characters easily distinguishable from one another, with all of them sounding believable (often when there are multiple characters, at least one ends up sounding a little amusing, but not from this narrator). This book definitely kept my rapt attention right until the very end, a little twist which I did not at all predict coming. This book was, again, twisted, but exciting, and kept me up later than intended as there were many points where I could just not stop listening. Highly recommend!

Okay storyline, but not my favorite
Revisado: 12-14-22
This was an easy listen, and I finished it while doing other things within a few days time. It was an interesting enough story, but did not hold my rapt attention, and if I zoned out a little I could still follow the premise just fine.
The narrator was alright, definitely a few times where I cringed at how she placed emphasis on certain words/sentences, making them come off much differently than I think I would have read to myself, but I do listen at a speed of 1.3, 1.4, so it could have been affected by that.
Over a book I wanted to listen through to the end, but also one which I was happy was included with Audible membership and not a credit spent.
