Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

I found this to be mediocre. Just not as wowed as everyone else I guess. I didn’t find the story that engaging and thought the performance made for a lot of shortcomings. I don’t regret the credit, but probably won’t listen again.

Historia
Fresh from a lethal entanglement with some of the deepest and darkest players in the global intelligence services, Michael Gannon heads to the safest place he can think of: deep in the wilds of Utah on the ranch of one of his oldest and closest war buddies. But when his friend’s brother is found dead in the rocky foothills of Grand Teton, Gannon realizes there are some things more important than keeping your head down. Is his death just one in a string of grisly murders mysteriously occurring around national parks - or a part of something even more sinister?

Poorly researched, not nearly as good as first book
Revisado: 06-17-23
I enjoyed the first book, and was excited to listen to the second. The narrator is great, no issues there.
There’s far less character building here, and even the action isn’t well written. Also - Macs in a SCIF? Any federal employee using a MacBook as their work computer? No. Just no. It’s like the author took the elements from the first book and shuffled them, without actually putting any thought into it. A lot could have been done, but it wasn’t.

Historia
When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

A note on the narrator…
Revisado: 07-17-22
The way the narrator voices the cats is horrendous and borderline racist. Better to have stuck to English and pseudo-English accents. It turned what could have been humorous interludes into something that had to be endured.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Great start to a new character
Revisado: 08-11-17
I really enjoyed this book. I've read pretty much everything Connelly has ever written, and I feel that Ballard has great potential. The story had a few surprises, which is always a pleasure. It wasn't too easy to figure out.
I feel like Ballard is a very real character, with depths and complexities we have yet to see. I liked the way Connelly handled writing a female perspective, and I also felt like he had a good grasp of the complicated place of a woman in a male-dominated profession (I am one of those, too).
I think the narrator has a great voice for Ballard. She could use some work differentiating between Ballard's voice and that of other characters, but I hope she develops that and sticks with the series.
Overall, highly recommended.

It’s 1996, and Reacher is still in the army. In the morning they give him a medal, and in the afternoon they send him back to school. That night he’s off the grid. Out of sight, out of mind. Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there. Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown.

While I normally love Reacher books that put him back in his Army days, this one never grabbed my attention. I found myself spacing out and needing to listen to parts again. We didn't really learn anything new about Reacher as a character. So, meh.

Revisado: 11-30-15
I generally don't like it when authors read their own books. This is no exception. I made it through, but the reading was not good.
The story itself was good, and a nice twist on an oft-used premise.

This is my favorite of the Sookie Stackhouse books. There's vampire and shapeshifter action, good character development, plenty of action (more than I expected)....but Harris keeps Sookie's charm and likeability intact.

So much better that the
Revisado: 12-03-06
I've been a fan of Diana Gabaldon for years, and I was one of the many who wrote to Audible customer service begging to see the unabridged titles in the Outlander series added to the Audible library. At long last...I was so excited when "Outlander" showed up one day. I checked back every week to see when "Dragonfly in Amber" would be posted!
Gabaldon does thorough historical research and has excellent chaacter development in her stories. There is romance, but not so much that I would put the book in that category. There is mystery and magic, action and adventure, intrigue and espionage.
"Dragonfly in Amber" picks up where "outlander" leaves off, but it also carries the listener forward to what the future may hold and sets the next few books up nicely.
