I loved hearing this perspective from a thoughtful, intelligent man who understands that the true respect and dignity in holding public office comes from a true desire to help his constituents, not to violate that public truse for his own gain. So...the story is a decent modern fairytale, if not a little predictable. Certainly it is entertaining and captured my interest!
The narrator is great...except he speaks very slowly! I found if I turned the speed to 1.25, that fixes the problem!

I came across Marie Sexton by accident, and I am sure glad I did! I have loved all of her books!! This makes the fourth book of hers that I’ve listened to, and it not only didn’t disappoint - but has been one of my favorite books ever, EVER!
I related so much to both of the young men in the story and their sweet naivety and hopeful romance...it made my heart sing! I know I’m gushing, but really...do yourself a favor and just listen to it, it’s worth it!

The story is great, the narrator is excellent. I am not sure how it was done when finishing the audio for the story, but the narrator has WAY too much bass. It makes it a bit harder to hear yet dually once you turn it up, the bass can be heard throughout the house.
To listen in my car, I had to adjust the mix....no bass and as much treble as I could get and it's still a problem.
If you can muscle through a bad mix job, the story is PHENOMENAL. I am so hooked on what happens next, I have to listen to all of the books, even with the bass problem.

What did you love best about Bulletproof?
Love the ongoing story of Jory and Sam, it is fantastic and I love these longer series that really brings characters etc, together.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jory and Sam are always my favorites.
Did Jeff Gelder do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Not really. Sometimes dialogue separation was difficult. I couldn't always tell one character from another.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I had to really force myself through the first couple of paragraphs and get used to the new narrator. He ready really quickly in the beginning or it felt that way. I even tried slowing down the speed of the player, but that didn't work. I either got used to his speed or it improved....I'm not sure which.
Any additional comments?
The change in narrator was a tough one. The first chapters felt life they were read extremely fast. The narrator of previous stories had distinct voices for each character, which made it easier to follow the conversations.Surprisingly, this narrator very obviously mispronounces some words or says them incorrectly.

This was a great story! I love the slow burn of the development of the relationship. I even like better the epilogue that helps to round out the ending instead of just ending the story. Definitely a MUST listen.

Thoroughly loved this book and the series of books. You both hate and love the author! Love her for the amazing and enjoyable story line, hate her for the terrible cliff hanger of an ending!
Read this book and fall for the whole Kage series...You'll love it! I have also fallen for Maria Black as an author. I am certain I'll be seeking out her work from now on.
