One of the best in Audible, with Tim Curry narration
Revisado: 09-20-23
I’m sorry that it took 13 years for me to discover this book. The narrator, Tim Curry, shot to the very top of my list of Best Narration Ever. Of course Jules Verne set down the words, formed the story. And what a story! Much better than the crumbly efforts of Hollywood. I’ve already listened to it twice. Thanks to the production team and Audible for publishing it !!

Historia
Jerin is a mental freak - a man capable of successfully playing a dozen simultaneous chess games against first-rate players while he himself is out of sight of any of the boards. It is while thus engaged that he is killed. A millionaire - his opponent in more realms than chess - is accused, and Nero Wolfe is given what appears to be the most hopeless case he and Archie Goodwin have ever tackled.

I wish we could get all on Audible
Revisado: 05-15-23
Every Nero Wolfe story by Rex Stout —— who was the originator and only author to capture the full characters color and produce so many surprise endings— is worth reading. The narrative by Michael Pritchard is superb but were made in the 1990s and we don’t have all the stories recorded. So go read the ones that aren’t on Audible. They are unique, with minimal corpses and no need for more blood or guns or TV-style ridiculous scenes.

I’m glad that Alistair MacLean books are being release
Revisado: 07-21-22
I’ve waited for a long time to get back to the inimical works of Alistair MacLean. In the mid twentieth century he wrote THE thriller/adventures/spy stories. Just as Rex Stout has almost been washed away by modern publishing fluff and sparkle, I recommend MacLeans’ works be saved and enjoyed by today’s readers

Her best ( so far)
Revisado: 10-04-21
Karen Baugh Menuhin is, in our opinion, the best mystery writer working today. She has intricate facts and complicated plots which at the end dissolve and turn into easy to understand motives , personalities , and killers. We couldn’t help to notice that she, as before , cleverly inserts a few double S words as playful tiny land mines for for excellent narrator Sam Dewhurst Phillips. Speaking of narration, when Sam puts Karen’s characters before you, you’re in a theater, the lights have gone down, and before you is a stage full of separate characters whom you know without a doubt are all playing themselves. We can’t wait for the next book.

The best, and probably the last
Revisado: 09-17-21
H Paul Honsinger wrote books of extraordinary excitement and detailed accuracy of what space Naval travel in the future would probably be like. He even gave a tip of the hat to other spacefaring humans. For example, Officer Tufeld, who would do the announcing for the ship in the end, was the Captain Tufeld in the 1950s TV show and radio show Space Patrol, and also did the voice of the Robot in the original Lost In Space. Ray Chase you did an outstanding job narrating all the books. Paul we will miss you.

Revisado: 02-28-21
Jim Butcher’s work is the kind you can read over and over. Excellent story. James Marsters once again puts a real emotion-filled human Harry Dresden between my earbuds. Hollywood could never make a good movie of the grand, exciting world of Dresden: it would cost too much money!

Amazingly good mysteries with no gimmicks.
Revisado: 07-15-20
Karen Menuhin has the rare gift of cleverly putting choice worlds in a line; these lines come together to make her books easy to read, entertaining, and still give reminders that we are in 1921 England in a mystery.
Her voice narrator, Sam Dewhurst-Phillips is the Champion of book performers. Every word is correctly enunciated. He varies the rhythm from slow to fast depending on what’s actually going on in the book at that moment. He performs more voices than any other reader I have come across.
I’ve read all of Ms. Menuhin’s books and listened to Dewhurst-Phillips bring all the characters to life. I will continue to buy and read and listen to these unique works.

Historia
When a prominent family's daughter flees sleepy Sussex to seek a career on the stages of a glittering West End, Harry and Kat are asked to check in on the young woman. But the two of them soon discover that there is a much bigger danger to the woman and her family than mere acting dreams being crushed. Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake".

Story light, Narration makes it good
Revisado: 06-01-20
Another cozy story from Richards and Costello. The plot has a few surprises, but the suspense does not electrify your nerves. Which is exactly the purpose of their books—you can relax. Nathaniel Parker’s narration brings it to life, and through him you hear many different personalities on your mental stage. Mr. Parker deserves his 5 stars, every time.
