I enjoyed this audio product. It has the standards of The Great Courses, that is, quality content, delivered competently, and in a fairly entertaining manner to as to keep one's attention. I learned a fair amount about cheese from this course, and intend to take the course again in future. I hope The Great Courses is considering doing a course on cheese that is both audio and video. I would buy it. This audio product is endorsed by The Great Courses. But it is only available here on Audible. It is not available on The Great Courses website, or Wondrium.

Part I of this product covers the revolution in ideas from 1760 to 1775. Excellent narration by a full cast. I always listened to this on 4th of July weekend, to remember the basis on which our ancestors sought independence. What was the American revolution about? John Adams said: "The war? That was no part of the revolution." The revolution occurred in the minds of men and women in America from 1760 to 1775. To the colonists, "revolution" meant a circular action of going BACK to fundamental conceptions of freedom, government, law, and mankind, from which the English crown and Parliament had strayed. Americans knew that they did not receive their rights from government. Alexander Hamilton said: "The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged-for among old parchments or musty records, but are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power." This is a well written and well executed recording that I am very fond of.

Does not have Nietsche's writings on Wagner

I bought this item because the description states that it has the following works by Nietsche on Wagner: “The Case of Wagner”, “Nietzsche Contra Wagner”, “Selected Aphorisms from Nietzsche’s Retrospect of His Years of Friendship with Wagner." In fact, it has none of these.

Thoroughly researched and fairly presented. Presented with a critical eye twoard Holmes, but with knowledge and acknowledgment of his greatness. The quality of the reading is very good, very audible so to speak. I loved it. Holmes was one of the great jurists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I especially enjoyed chapter 11, presenting Holmes's approach to the 14th amendment and due process of law. Holmes was more deferential to elected legislatures including Congress. I enjoyed Sheldon Novick's biography of Holmes, "Honorable Justice" (1989), and this biography is, in my judgment, equally good. It covers Holmes's service in the Civil War, to a greater degree, I think, than other biographies. It also covers the trials Holmes presided over while he was a justice of the Massachusetts high court (at that time they had trial duties too). Holmes tried dozens of cases every year. I greatly enjoyed this book and this recording.

I was hoping for reasonably objective summaries of 44 Supreme Court decisions. Not really what this book offers.

Frases bien largas -- deben ser más cortas para poder seguir con la narración más facilmente..

The narrator's diction is clear. The summaries of the cases are nice and concise. But there are places where a particular political perspective comes through. Needs to be neutral on each and every case.

Should have two readers

Great recording of these two works. This is the only prose work by Wagner available on Audible. But there ought to be two different readers here, one for the Shaw work and another for the Wagner essay. A listener associates a voice with an author. Other than that, thank you for making this available.

I have taken several audio tours of Paris and this is one of my very favourites. Great content: historical, artistic, practical, interesting. Great narration: not simple reading from a text, but engaging narration, clearly composed using the actual street scenes. This is as good as ParisWalks, which sets the standard.

Leave out the long websites and phone numbers from an audio program. They're distracting and in my opinion unnecessary. The pronunciation of French words and names is pretty good.
