Historia
In Washington, D.C., a cell phone rings. The White House chief of staff needs Jacob Winter now. His chief investigator and an Army Intelligence veteran, Winter knows how to move quickly and decisively, but he's never faced a problem like this. The disappearances are bad, but when the blackened body shows up barbed-wired to a tree, Winter knows there is much worse to come. And soon enough, there is. Large forces are at work, determined to do whatever it takes to achieve their ends.

Terrific Book!
Revisado: 08-30-16
My only complaint about this story was it ended too soon! A few more hours would have been grand. Not because the story wasn't complete - it was. It was just so enjoyable that more would have been nice, too. What a great new character from John Sandford. I sure hope Jake Winter turns into a series. And the narrator, Richard Ferrone, was perfect. Definitely ready for the (hopefully) next Jake Winters story!

Good Story - Awful Narration
Revisado: 04-08-15
I have listened to a lot of audible books. Some narrators are outstanding and really bring the story alive. Some aren't as outstanding, but are still very good. And sometimes a narrator is just awful. Perhaps it was just the Irish brogues and British accents that were too challenging for Carla Mercer-Meyer. She made every single voice, male and female, Irish, British, and American, sound like a whiny little girl. I love long books; it would have been better had this one been shorter. Not because it is a bad story... it is a good story. Hopefully, for the next installment of Sharpe & Donovan, Carla Neggers brings back Carol Monda as the narrator.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 10-02-14
Don't waste your time or credit. As a big Reacher fan, I am always excited to get something new. I started not to purchase this one as I am not a fan of short stories in general. But it was Reacher, so I went against my better judgment. Big mistake. Lee Child should not have listened to whomever told him this was a good idea. Disappointing is an understatement.

Mickey Haller gets the text, "Call me ASAP - 187," and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game. When Mickey learns that the victim was his own former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she was back in LA and back in the life.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook from Michael Connelly. Great story from start to finish, including narration. This might be my favorite Mickey Haller story.

Historia
Mexican drug cartels are shooting up the streets of Laredo and El Paso. Somali pirates are holding three U.S. tankers for ransom. The President of the United States is fed up and, as Commander in Chief, has what he thinks is a pretty bright idea — to get hold of Colonel Charley Castillo and his merry band and get them on the case. Unfortunately, that will be difficult. Everybody knows that the President hates Castillo’s guts, and has just had him forcibly retired from the military, and now Castillo’s men are scattered far and wide, many of them in hiding.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT !!
Revisado: 03-08-14
Do not waste your time and money. Maybe everyone should have been told upfront that this is a (poor attempt at) tongue in cheek humor. This has been one of my favorite series. This author and publisher could not possibly have needed money bad enough to distribute this book/recording. I waited and waited ... all the way thru the first half, and then all the way thru the second half ... for the plot to show itself and the action to start. And then I hear the author start talking about his approach to this book. I pick up my iPod and look at it as if it is suddenly broken; how could that be the end of the book, I think to myself. I'm still waiting for the plot and the action. Totally huge disappointment!!!! DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE $ EARNED ON THIS "STORY."

Historia
Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face to face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame.

Revisado: 11-21-12
Just finished The Lincoln Lawyer and LOVED it! Didn't see the movie, but the book is terrific. Listened to a couple other Mickey Haller books within the Harry Bosch series, also by Michael Connelly. And based on those, I decided to get the other two Mickey Haller editions. So glad I did. Loved the story and the narration was great. This book was definitely worth the credit.

Nice Blend of Harry Bosch & Mickey Haller

The story had a quick pace and lots of twists and turns. I liked the evolution of the relationship between Harry Bosch and his half-brother, Mickey Haller.

LAPD Detective Harry Bosch tackles three tough cases that span a legendary career in this never-before-collected trio of stories. Utterly unputdownable, they are proof that "Connelly never stops doling out the suspense.... Once it grabs you in those first few pages, it won't let go of you" ( Boston Globe).

What is the Point of Short Stories??
Revisado: 11-17-12
Suicide Run and Angle of Investigation - two short story compilations - were pointless. They are out of context timewise with the series. Each story (less than an hour each) were WAY to short to be anything but pointless.
I should have been smarter . . . how much story can there be in a three story compilation that is less than 3 hours long! Disappointed in myself for the purchase!

Historia
Here is LAPD Detective Harry Bosch as we've never seen him before, in three never-before-collected stories. In "Suicide Run", the apparent suicide of a beautiful young starlet turns out to be much more sinister than it seems. In "Cielo Azul", Bosch is haunted by a long-ago closed case: the murder of a teenage girl who was never identified. In "One Dollar Jackpot", Bosch works the murder of a professional poker player whose skills have made her more than one enemy.

Don't Waste Your Credit or $
Revisado: 11-17-12
What disappointed you about Suicide Run?
Suicide Run and Angle of Investigation - two short story compilations - were pointless. They are out of context timewise with the series. Each story (less than an hour each) were WAY to short to be anything but pointless.
What was most disappointing about Michael Connelly’s story?
That he would waste our time and money on these "stories."
What does Len Cariou bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's a good narrator. His voices and inflection bring out the characters of the stories he does. But he could nothing to save these.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Only to convince me to never buy another short story compilation!
