Historia
In February 2019, award-winning writer Alex Roddie left his online life behind when he set out to walk 300 miles through the Scottish Highlands, seeking solitude and answers. In leaving the chaos of the internet behind for a month, he hoped to learn how it was truly affecting him - or if he should look elsewhere for the causes of his anxiety. The Farthest Shore is the story of Alex’s solo trek along the remote Cape Wrath Trail.

Frustrating
Revisado: 02-07-22
The author seemed to preoccupied with what was going on in his own head to notice or want to share much of what was going oncoutside of it. I was hoping to get a glimse of what the trails in Northern Scottland are like.

Historia
Just before her 40th birthday, Gail Francis quit her perfectly good job and set out to hike one of the great trails of the world. Carrying everything she needed on her back, Francis spent five months walking from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest Trail. Along the way, she lost her pack scrambling over scree in the desert, struggled to navigate high mountain passes, and wore the soles off her boots trekking across lava fields - all within some of the most pristine wilderness in the nation. Though she set out alone, her story includes an eclectic cast of characters.

Enjoyed listening to this book. It kept my interest, it moved well. One or two spots maybe dragged a little, all in all, there was not anything I didn't like about it.

Could have been a good listen, needed editing, long stretches where it just drags. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Finally put it on 1.4 speed.

Historia
What does it take to be one of the world's best high-altitude mountain climbers? A lot of fundraising; traveling in some of the world's most dangerous countries; enduring cold bivouacs, searing lungs, and a cloudy mind when you can least afford one. It means learning the hard lessons the mountains teach. Steve House built his reputation on ascents throughout the Alps, Canada, Alaska, the Karakoram, and the Himalaya that have expanded possibilities of style, speed, and difficulty.

Two-thirds of Americans are overweight and seven out of 10 take at least one prescription medication. On a daily basis people all over the country are struggling with feeling stressed, confused, depressed, anxious or in pain. Many are isolated, living in poverty and consuming low quality food. What if at the root of disease, especially the obesity crisis, was a craving for connection and love?

Never found out anything about the author or what was his reason for hiking the AT. Just a list of the days events, which, after awhile got fairly monotonous.
