I just can't even...
Revisado: 03-13-20
I really like this author and I really enjoyed the other two books in the series. AND I realky liked the little intro to Jane in book 2 and was excited to hear her story, but OMG she is soooooooo horrible. She is nothing like the glimpse from book 2. To top things off I really like Chase...which makes her even worse.
I'm half way through and honestly am not sure I can finish. The only thing making it somewhat bearable is i didn't have to pay for it since it's an audible escape book...so disappointing and just awful...
The narrator is pretty good though so not a total loss...I guess...maybe.

Another Home Run!!
Revisado: 07-11-19
OMG! I'm not even half way through, but she's done it once again. I love her range and this sort of new direction she's been going in is just as amazing as all of her others. If you even marginally like NR, you should read/listen to this book...it's wonderful, as always.
HOWEVER, so far, this is heart wrenching, beautifully done, but you will cry...if you don't, you are not human. Totally worth it, but just keep it in mind if you're not up for something that will pull at you. I just love how she brings you into it, makes you live it, breath it...it's amazing, she's amazing!!
I must say, I've never heard anything by this narrator, which I can think of, but she's really done a great job with it. She is definitely part of the magic of the audio version of this book. Don't get me wrong, the book is stellar all on its own and would be just as wonderful in print, but with audio books, the narrator can make or break even an awesome book. Thankfully, NR picked a good one with January LaVoy...
Here's to NR and another home run in every way!!

Worst Narration EVER...my ears are bleeding!!!
Revisado: 12-03-18
I LOVE this series and Marguerite Gavin!!! BUT, the narrator in this one is absolutely horrible. She completely ruined the entire book and made it painful to get through. It's not just her awful portrayal of these already extremely diverse and well established characters (I mean, come on, it's book 6 and Marguerite Gavin nailed it), but her pronunciation of a lot of the names was like nails down a chalk board...my skin is still crawling.
Read this one old school and pick up the audio version of the series again with book 7 and Marguerite Gavin...this is not a "well I know all the visible reviews said it's bad, but it's subjective and there are hundreds of reviews so it cannot possible be that bad...those are just the first one's up" situation. IT IS REALLY THAT BAD. These reviews are coming up first and are consistent for a reason. We did the dirty work for you...PLEASE learn from our mistakes!!! SAVE YOURSELF!!!

Revisado: 08-11-16
Where does Void Wraith rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best! I love Chris Fox and Void Wraith, just like the rest of his books, did not disappoint.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Void Wraith?
There were several, but when the slug thing that is in the Admiral finally comes out with the murderous/carnivorous tentacles and Nolan trying to get to the body to get the box...freakin' crazy, graphic and imaginative.
Have you listened to any of Ryan Kennard Burke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have and actually really like him...I think he does a great job with less traditional story lines and I love when he does the recap the Chris Fox has at the beginning of his books...he really great at capturing the humor from the writer...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Moved me...hmm...to be honest I love the developing relationships between the main human characters and the main Tigris characters...it shows how family doesn't always mean blood or in this case the same species...
Any additional comments?
I'm NOT a SciFi fan, but I am REALLY enjoying this series...I definitely recommend it and anything else by this author and the narrator too.
All I can say is...more please...ASAP!!

What did you love best about Destroyer?
Hmm, I'm not sure. It's such an interesting and unique story...I really love the Tigris. They're so fierce and yet they purr...it's great!
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's really hard to pick just one...Fizgig, not a clue if that's spelled right, is great. I also love Annie, Captain Dryker, Sargent Hanan...
What about Ryan Kennard Burke’s performance did you like?
I think he does a great job with less traditional story lines and I love when he does the recap the Chris Fox has at the beginning of his books...he really great at capturing the humor from the writer...
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not a clue...I leave that to the boys and girls who make the big bucks...

Yet there are greater threats than the walking dead. The deathless have returned, slumbering in the same Arks that carried the werewolves into the present. If they are not stopped they will build a massive necropolis in the remains of San Francisco, and the entire continent will pay the price. If you could sum up No Mere Zombie in three words, what would they be?
AWESOME!!
What was one of the most memorable moments of No Mere Zombie?
Everything...I love Yukon, Liz kicking butt, Trevor breaking free, Blair finally using that brain of his and kicking butt, and EVERYTHING else!
What does Ryan Kennard Burke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Someone else doing the work? JK. I love the voices...Yuri is great!! The emotion, etc...you just can't beat it and Ryan does a great job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Gods, Werewolves, and Zombies oh my...not a clue I hate writing reviews, but wanted to support one of my new favorite authors...

So Not My Thing to Commited Fan!! Loved It!!
Revisado: 07-06-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely...this type of book is usually so not my thing and I got it only because it was longer than 10 hours and had werewolves, but wow it is soooooo much more. It's got a mystery, an evil company, betrayal, love interests, Gods, underdogs (no pun intended), werewolves who maybe aren't such bad guy's, awesome chicks who kick butt, a lot of eating...people, an apocalypse...oh, yeah and zombies...if you want something new, totally different, but interesting this is it...it definitely has a little something for everyone. I can't wait to read book 2!
What did you like best about this story?
Umm...everything. What girl wouldn't love a book that has girls that are bigger and badder than everyone else?
Have you listened to any of Ryan Kennard Burke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but he was pretty good...he did well with the different voices and personalities...great enthusiasm too...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Trevor and Sheila...enough said.
Any additional comments?
Chris, you may be a little indie author, but I can't wait to see more thing from you...you definitely have a new fan in me!!

Jillian MacKay is being conned by a pair of 80-year-old witches. They're convinced she's the perfect sucker to test a prophecy and they're willing to bury her alive to prove it. Once she escapes and finds herself in 15th Century Scotland, she believes her return home depends on a heroic deed - she must rescue a plaid-clad Romeo and Juliet before tragedy can end in tragedy. The monster standing in her way, however, is a handsome Highlander who might just be her own Romeo...a Romeo she must leave behind.

Narrator Sucks
Revisado: 05-09-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I had no objection to the story and actually rather liked it in spite of the horrible narrator. The tone of his voice was nice sort of rich and deep, but everything else about it was absolutely horrible. There was a slur to it or a mumble...it was REALLY hard to understand most of what he said. And when he tried to insert the accent it was even worse. There was also an extreme lack of inflection to the voice most of the time which made it even harder to focus on what was actually being said and the story. And finally there was almost no change between the characters. Surprisingly I've listened to other books that doesn't overtly differentiate between the characters and it never really bothered me because there was so much life to the characters, etc., but when this narrator did it it just made everything about the overall effect., or lack there of, even worse.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not sure...I'm still listening to it, but the old ladies are a crack-up, but who doesn't a like a hot laird?
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Shandon Loring?
ANYBODY else would have been better...my 8 year old would have done a better job. If I see this narrator on another book...even if it is one I've read and loved...I will NEVER, EVER get it!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Going Back for Romeo?
Hmm...not sure. I'm still trying to finish it, but I'm probably going to have to buy the actual paperback version...I know I've missed a lot of the story line.
Any additional comments?
Please get another narrator....this poor book does not deserve to be destroyed in this fashion...if I'm going to dislike a book and not recommend it I want it to be because the book is terrible not because the narrator is beyond redemption.

Historia
The 50 contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner. What’s a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

OMG! This is most horrible and awesome book ever..
Revisado: 02-14-14
Where does Beauty Queens rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's currently at the top of my list...I loved the quirky and twisted tale, but I also appreciated the deeper issues addressed throughout the insanity and chaos.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Can't pick one...they all rock...even the bad guys.
What does Libba Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is the reason I loved this book...the book is quirky and fun all on its own, but Libba and her portrayal of her characters MADE the book. I loved her, loved her voices...
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not a freakin' clue...
Any additional comments?
I have a serious and many say unhealthy hatred of doughnuts...they are so beyond gross...the smell, the taste, the texture...YUCK!!! Totally random I know, but if you listen through to the very last second it will make total sense.
