Historia
Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

A simple overview of current status
Revisado: 03-01-19
I am really sorry but I have to give a negative review of this book. There are three basic rules of me choosing a book: entertainment, educational, or escape my bubble. Unfortunately this book didn't provide me anything of those things. I should say that some of their facts are also wrong, especially in the history of computers/AI I was hoping to read about ELIZA in that chapter! I understand that this book is being written from an economists point of view and thus my expectations shouldn't be very high on a technical side, but this book just offers a simple overview of the current status in AI and nothing else. At least for me. Full disclosure I got this audiobook on a sale $3.66.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

I strongly suggest to avoid it
Revisado: 02-10-19
Although I am a fun of John Scalzi , this is one of the worst books I’ve listened . At least half the book is okay , but it is really obvious that the author was either ‘fracking’ lazy or in much hurry to finish it, that he mess this up .

Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

Interesting Concept

but not impressed with the story line. I had to rewind a few parts to understand better some hard sci-fi points . Also, poor ending In my opinion.
The concept was really intriguing but I felt that perhaps would it better to stretch out details and stories to more books instead of putting everything in this one. I would prefer more detailed background story and even more explained of sci-fi tech. Enjoyable in overall

mixed feelings
Revisado: 03-10-18
There are a lot of good tips and advice in this book, although I have the feeling that the author is trying to convince people about the validity of his choices. I would recommend it with a disclaimer to listen without the need to agree to every suggestion.

When Derek Sivers started CD Baby, he wasn’t planning on building a major business. He was a successful independent musician who just wanted to sell his CDs online. When no one would help him do it, he set out on his own and built an online store from scratch. He started in 1998 by helping his friends sell their CDs. In 2000, he hired his first employee. Eight years later, he sold CD Baby for $22 million. Sivers didn’t need a business plan, and neither do you.

Historia
More than ever, the effective management of technology is critical for business competitiveness. For decades, technology leaders have struggled to balance agility, reliability, and security. The consequences of failure have never been greater - whether it's the healthcare.gov debacle, cardholder data breaches, or missing the boat with Big Data in the cloud. And yet, high performers using DevOps principles, such as Google, Amazon, and Netflix, are routinely and reliably deploying code into production hundreds, or even thousands, of times per day.
