Good story. Annoying narration.
Revisado: 12-10-24
The story was cool and the characters would’ve been more likable had the narrator not make each sentence go up at the end for both female characters. No person actually talks like that and it makes the characters sound dumb.

Historia
Last night, we celebrated our anniversary. Over candlelight, we talked about the children, our work, and I was so happy, and felt so loved. But the next morning, when I check my phone, there is a message. From a friend. And a string of photos appear of my husband, Will, with another woman: walking along the street holding hands. Going into fancy hotels. Standing at a window, his arms around her, her head on his shoulder…

Waste of time
Revisado: 03-27-24
Narration was good. I first kept listening in hopes that the story would get better. Then I kept listening just to finish it and move on to the next book. Waste of time. Sad attempt at a shocking twist. Dumb characters who could have avoided the stupid situation with a simple conversation between adults. Unintelligent writing.

Really good read/listen
Revisado: 11-14-23
Listened to this after watching Priscilla. Really well done and Priscilla narrating herself made the book all the more charming. It was cool seeing Elvis through her eyes and mind. A really unique and romantic love story.

was refreshingly different. I looked forward to listening each day.

Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Stupid plot. Weak twist. *spoilers*
Revisado: 03-31-23
Narrator did an excellent job. Story started out promising but falls flat. Twist is stupid. the wife contradicts herself by saying her experience as a teen made her protective of her future. Only to sign docs blindly to screw herself and her kids. The girlfriend puts all the work and effort in destroying the wife but then conveniently just gives up and kills herself. The wife stood aside and let another character overdose and this just gets glossed over like no big deal. Waste of time. Lame and weak.

Everyone is hiding a secret. One of them is murder. The book club was her idea, of course. It was her way into our group. A chance to get close. I knew from the day she arrived that she couldn't be trusted. And I was right. Alice didn't come to the village for peace and quiet. She came for revenge. A deliciously addictive psychological thriller about a book club that unravels dark and scandalous secrets between one circle of neighbours.

Good listen…ending not so great.
Revisado: 10-26-22
Great characters and story. Narration was good too. However ending could’ve been way better. Feels like the author just phoned it in at the end. But it leaves the book open for a series I guess.

I haven’t lived here long. The house is small and a little run-down, but each piece of faded floral wallpaper I peel away feels like unwrapping the second chance I never thought I’d get. I’m finally free to wear what I want, and I don’t flinch when I accidently burn dinner. My new home is warm, and the kids are safe inside. Anywhere would feel idyllic after the nightmare marriage I’ve just escaped.

Great book. Questionable narration.
Revisado: 10-04-22
This book is definitely a better read than a listen. I don’t feel the narrator does it justice. The main character Lea is frustrated and whiny for a good amount of the story and rightfully so. However, whenever Lea is frustrated or crying the narrator switches up her voice to make Lea sound like she turned into a 100 year old grandma! I swear I pictured Rose at the end of the movie, Titanic whenever the narrator did this. It was really weird. But the story was good! Still worth a listen. Just ignore Lea sounding like she’s going from late 30’s to 100 years old whenever she gets upset.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Good story. Good narration. Simple writing.
Revisado: 07-25-22
It’s a really good story and the narration was well done. Only annoying thing was the authors limited vocabulary. In place of using words to describe a feeling or the intensity of the moment or experience of the characters, the author would just repeat the same word or phrase three times or more. Example is silence…silence…silence…silence…silence. No exaggeration. This is done over and over throughout the entire book.
