I liked the music and performance. The plot of Oliver Twist returning to the place when Fagan owned his life plays out nicely against the original Dickens story.

I enjoyed the easy presentation and humor presented in this series of talks about how the author has learned from from many Buddhist teachers.

I've had a few yoga classes where the instructor skimps on Savasana! No! This is why I do all that other yoga -to get to Savasana ! This is deeply relaxing and also provides a gentle wake up.

This story was produced and performed flawlessly--making a terrific author really shine.

Set mostly in Charleston and later Philadelphia and New England, and spanning over 30 years in the early 1800s, this story of a young plantation owner's daughter presented with her own slave (with a purple bow tied on the slave's neck), that slave, and later, the plantation woman's younger sister perfectly describes how abolition and women's rights came to merge, for better or worse.

Author Sue Monk Kidd's afterward is as valuable as the entire story, for she describes how she crafted this historical fiction after discovering the role of two little-recognized Charleston sisters in the abolitionist movement who truly set the stage for women's rights.

Wisely, the author details where she used historical documents and real people's stories, and how she filled in, even to the point of plot timing with plausible fiction. This really was an education for me on the value of historical fiction.

The two narrators were entirely believable, This was a performance of the highest caliber: straight and true, without embellishment. I never was distracted by over wrought music shuffling me between chapters.

If you loved Elizabeth Gilbert's "Signature of All Things," which is set in the same time period, you will love this for similar reasons. Bright women bumping up against family expectations in the early 1800s, and how some women deserved far more recognition far sooner than now. Better late than never!

Where does I Am a Pole (And So Can You!) rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

This was a quick fun listen. The price seemed right, as I had heard it already on The Colbert Report TV show.

What three words best describe Tom Hanks and Stephen Colbert (introduction) ???s voice?

The voices were great. I didn't really enjoy the banter between Tom Hanks and Stephen Colbert that much.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt a giggle rise.

As a new birdwatcher, I enjoyed this story of birdwatching gone wild--and look forward to a hobby that offers so many joys beyond identifying a bird. I also recommend Red Tails in Love.
