My all time favourite Sci Fi Novel

Love this book and the narration is good.
The plot is on a massive scale - the destiny of the entire galixy and the dramatic peak is unparalleled.
Highly recommended.

Historia
The twisted maze of Venice's canals has always been shrouded in mystery. Even the celebrated opera house, La Fenice, has seen its share of death. But nothing so horrific and violent as that of world-famous conductor, Maestro Helmut Wellauer - poisoned during a performance of La Traviata.

For me, audiobooks just don't get much better than this. Beautifully written, beautifully narrated. Characters we are nurtured to care about and all in such an exotic setting. Wonderful !

Historia
One night, Peter Lake - orphan, master-mechanic, and master second-story man - attempts to rob a fortress-like mansion on the Upper West Side. Though he thinks the house is empty, the daughter of the house is home. Thus begins the affair between the middle-aged Irish burglar and Beverly Penn, a young girl who is dying. Because of a love that at first he cannot fully understand, Peter, a simple and uneducated man, will be driven "to stop time and bring back the dead".

Historia
“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes
What did you like best about this story?
tantalizing clever plotting - a bit more suspense than other Reacher novels
Which scene was your favorite?
In the chicago cafe
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no - I not like any long book in one sitting
Any additional comments?
I thought that the last two books had been a bit feeble but this one for me was one of the best. OK, so some parts are crazy unrealistic, but is still a good read

Historia
After an epic and interrupted journey all the way from the snows of South Dakota, Jack Reacher has finally made it to Virginia. His destination, the closest thing to a home he ever had: the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th Military Police. Why? He wants to meet the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner. He liked her voice on the phone. But now he's arrived, she's disappeared, and things are getting weird. Accused of a sixteen-year-old homicide and co-opted back into the army, Reacher says nothing.

puzzled by this one
Revisado: 08-31-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No - Not many of my friends read Reacher books so I would recommend one of the earlier titles. e.g. The Enemy or Without Fail
What was one of the most memorable moments of Never Go Back?
the girl he meets in LA
What didn’t you like about Jeff Harding’s performance?
Dick Hill wasn't my favorite reader but he did manage richer emotional shading & color than Jeff Harding. Didn't find the performance of Never go Back very engaging.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
unlikely
Any additional comments?
I couldn't work out if it was the change of narrator or the book itself but the style of this book seemed different than the previous Reacher books. It seemed a little synthetic. Found myself wondering if a ghost writer had been employed who was copying the style of the "Reacher" brand without capturing some of the spirit of the early stories. It wasn't a bad story, at times I was truly gripped but it seemed different in character.
