I appreciated Paris narrating with her own voice and sharing with the world the first 40 years of her life. But much of it was mostly blah blah blah. Being born into such wealth doesn’t guarantee you will be smarter or wiser for it. She is a party girl through and through. Besides her time spent in the therapeutic boarding schools I can’t really recall what I just listened to. The boarding school years is tragic but also sounded exaggerated. I’m sure it was hell for someone who was used to living a royal life. But I really have a hard time believing it was as abusive for all those troubled teens as she described. And Paris doesn’t seem to let on she was all that out of controlled as she describes her rebellious years as a child. There really wasn’t much I took away from with this autobiography.

Raw, honest and heartfelt

I am grateful to Philip Yancey for sharing his most personal childhood stories and explaining how he found the Jesus he never knew. This book is radical in that he doesn’t shy away from sharing his painful past of being raised with a verbally and religiously abusive mother, a legalistic Church and Bible College or deep southern racism. But instead explains God offers grace to all in spite of all of us imperfect believers.

Dry and repetitive

This was hard to listen to. It had drawn out explanations and the audio was too monotone. What was said in the whole book could have been written in a few pages but it did have some valuable insight so I gave it two stars.

Good but wish there was more depth

I appreciated Megan and Harry opening up and sharing their side of their story. It is so very tragic what they went through up against the critical eye of the media. I truly hope they succeed and have all their dreams come true! The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is because I was hoping for deeper insights and a more personal story. It was a little too ‘fluffy’.

Poor Narration

True as this story may be I had to return this book. It was hard to listen to. The Narrater's voice was very dry and flat. And the topic covered in the first one third of the book read too much like a text book.

Leah, thank you for bearing your heart and soul and being so vulnerable in exposing the truth about Scientology with your personal story to help others. Ironically, it wasn’t till after you left this cultic religion that you helped man kind and the “universe!” I am a Christian and have been studying religions that at cults like Mormonism and Jehovah Witnesses and decided to listen to this book to better understand Scientology. Surprisingly what I have found are common traits with these

LOL all the way to work and back listening in car

Loved it! This book made my long commutes to and from work something to look forward to. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction and this book has it all! The author, Michael Blutrich tells his story full of drama, suspense, lots of laughs intertwined with both unbelievable luck and misfortune. Having Blutrich read his own story, made this book come alive and personal in a heartfelt way. Can't wait till this is made into a movie!
