Historia
Best-selling author, cultural commentator, and popular theologian Christopher West is one of the world's most recognized teachers of John Paul II's Theology of the Body. He specializes in making this teaching accessible to all Christians, with particular attention to evangelicals. As West explains, from beginning to end the Bible tells a story of marriage. It begins with the marriage of man and woman in an earthly paradise and ends with the marriage of Christ and the church in an eternal paradise.

Simply the best
Revisado: 06-17-22
Need a thorough but not too heady introduction to the Bible study known as ‘The Theology of the Body”? Look no further. Written to be accessible to all Christians who take scripture seriously and an intimate relationship with our Creator even more seriously, this book nails it.
Bottom line, God as Father, Jesus as Brother, and many other metaphors abound in scripture. However THE icon most abundantly and consistently used through scripture is spousal in nature:
God wants to marry us!
Well done Dr. West on distilling a very layered and complex scriptural teaching into an elixir anyone can imbibe in a little over six hours on audible. This is my third time through it because if you keep coming back it works if you work it!

Time will tell...
Revisado: 12-11-20
My premonition is that 200 years from today, looking back, most of the world will agree that Karol Wojtyla was the greatest anthropologist and philosopher that ever walked the earth. It will take that long perhaps because the current prejudices against the other facts of his life, for example that he was also a brilliant theologian, a compassionate and pastoral Pope of the Catholic Church and declared a Saint, will take that long to fizzle out and give way to objectivity.
His brilliant work on human anthropology and sexual expression known now as the “Theology of the Body” is enough by itself to urge me to make such a bold claim. His life accomplishments in other areas only augment the assertion.
Time will tell.
In the mean time I am grateful for this excellent abridged Audible edition of George Weigel's work, giving the world a chance to become better acquainted with the much celebrated Saint John Paul II in less than ten hours of listening. I doubt that I'd have made it through the over 1000 pages unabridged hard copy version, so I for one am happily in debt to both Mr. Weigel and the editors who made this "quick" edition available. As a student at the Theology of the Body Institute, it has greatly enriched my perspectives on this great friend and servant of God, whose work I shall continue to study and propagate as long as I'm able.

This rendition of the New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE), is carefully produced as a high-quality audiobook, with careful attention to difficult pronunciations and narrated in the reverent style of liturgical proclamation, without drama, noise, music, or unnecessary vocal gymnastics. This is currently the only audio version of the NABRE that has been authorized and approved by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.

How about named chapters or at least an index!!?
Revisado: 10-27-19
Seriously!?! Index or chapter names or something to indicate where we are in any particular recording is REQUIRED, NOT OPTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reader is adequate, at least as good as an average lector at Mass.
However not being able to Navigate to particular passages or at least being able to know what book a particular recording is part of is ridiculous!!!! Is labeling that difficult? I think not. Get with it Audible! Insist on finished productions before you release them out to the public.
The Bible is a reference tool even when listening to it. One must be able to navigate the 80+ hours of it to a point they wish to start!
Edit 12/13/19:
So instead of waiting on Audible to put names on each chapter I made a chart and published it. It's what a geek like me does. Merry Christmas everyone!
Go here to download the .pdf showing what each Audible chapter number corresponds to in the Bible:

Historia
Of all things Catholic, there is nothing that is so familiar as the Mass. With its unchanging prayers, the Mass fits Catholics like their favorite clothes. Yet most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sundays fail to see the powerful supernatural drama that enfolds them. Pope John Paul II described the Mass as "Heaven on Earth," explaining that what "we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy."

Best study of the Book of Revelation I’ve encountered!
Revisado: 01-25-19
I grew up in a Church that loved to mine the Apocalyptic literature of the Bible for what the future held. I loved the “Chart Evangelists” that would trot in with 24 foot by 8 foot full color versions of Clarence Larkin’s maps of the future per the book of Daniel, Revelations and so on. It was way cool.
After about 10 years of attending mass (sometimes daily) I have come to realize what Scott Hahn realized: The Apocalypse saturates the mass! Dr. Hahn’s careful and thorough exploration of this reality has been so illuminating and enriching for me! Thanks Dr. Hahn!!
Highly recommended to Catholics and anyone who wants to understand the mass better! The keys that unlock that understanding reside in this book!
