I have tried many times over 4 weeks now to finish this book it's so boring the action sequences sometimes don't make sense but I can suspend reality and accept it but the rest of it is just bad

this book sucked it was filler upon filler upon filler
Revisado: 01-18-25
if you remove the filler this book probably was only about 10 chapters long. and by filler I mean all of the flowery descriptions of everything. I am sick and tired of this author filling his books with crazy amount of description without any bearing to the story. however Travis baldree is amazing and did his best to make this book enjoyable however I can't do it anymore I'm not even going to finish this book it's so filled with a flowery description. I have 2 hours left in this book and I cannot do it because for the last 20 minutes of a supposedly heated battle going on it's only briefly mentioned the actual battle the rest of it has been that flowery description of everything.

so good
Revisado: 06-20-24
I don't know what it is about this series but it drew me in from the first page I literally read the ebooks and then when I saw it was on Audible did not even hesitate to buy it. I really really enjoyed this book the character development is just amazing I absolutely loved the interpersonal relationships there was conflict with sects that were resolved but there were not catering to every little whim as I've seen with books in the past I've also seen it be the opposite where there was a pretty much blood feud between the two parties. I've always hated that it was either they loved you or they hated you there was never a I don't like you but I also don't intend you any harm aspect that this book has.

this book kept me on the edge of my seat
Revisado: 04-12-24
I got to say this is probably the best in the series so far I was very captivated the entire time it was very hard not to stay awake and listen to it in one day. I wanted to spread it out over several days and I did and it was so hard because the book was just that interesting. and the ending oh my God is so good I usually only stick with one format of a book when I start it this one I started an audio but with the ending of this one I'm going to go read the Kindle version of book 6 and then relisten to the audio of book6 when it comes out

Historia
Returning to the Verdant Green Waters sect over a decade after his exile, Wu Ying finds his position and place within the Sect in flux. Strong enough to be an Elder but not having achieved his rank via the normal methods, he has jealous and worried rivals to contend with. It is reminiscent of his own past, but now, he's an Elder and able to enact transformation in a broader sense. Wu Ying must find his own place in the sect or leave it once and for all. The cultivation wounds he received in the south trouble him, and it will require time and resources - resources the Sect is able to provide.

meh
Revisado: 12-11-23
there is so much to dislike about this book, with very little to actually like. as many others have said in their reviews I am getting sick and tired of Jason's mental health and every single book it's this big thing and it's never moving forward to a point when he is supposedly better. every little thing seems to make him fall back into a dark depression. it's getting old at this point find something else to focus on, like maybe the story progress the story some not Jason's sadness and how hard Jason has it. that's probably my biggest gripe is that it's all about Jason's Mental Health, yes it is important to seek professional help but this is getting ridiculous at this point everyone has to walk on eggshells around the main character for fear of him regressing. we need to move beyond that or replace the character.
although the biggest disappointment in this book so far for me was that Jason gave up his resurrection abilities to have a slightly stronger Aura power. all it does is suppress Undead. to me that's not really worth it, and it's not giving up temporarily it's giving it up permanently he can never get those back. I have been invested in this series since it first came out and I would really like for it to continue being good but at this point it just seems to be spiraling down. Jason is becoming somehow weaker but more powerful but at the same time he can't do anything. I really hope Travis gets his shit together and gets back to the storyline and gets it to be something that is interesting again

Historia
A thousand-year-old cultivator, Drew, is about to ascend to a higher existence. As he begins the process, he finds out he has pissed off one too many demigods. Though he manages to fight off the concerted effort of sect elders and patriarchs...he is slapped away from the higher realms by something. After an instant or an eternity, he awakens on a lower realm! The air is filled with garbage energy, and his emotions of all things are allowing him to control it. For a cultivator that has spent his existence absolutely controlling his thoughts...that won’t do at all.

I'm only 6 hours in
Revisado: 09-07-23
as the title says I'm only a couple hours in and this book has a lot of potential but the execution from the author is just terrible. what is making me just like this book so much is the fact that he so far hasn't really done anything but yet claims to be the super powerful person who was going to ascend but failed, and that he uses his power by yelling in his mind and it happens. he doesn't form rooms sigils or even magic circles he just yells in his mind and somehow that works for him. I think that's just lazy writing. thankfully though this is free.
I left this review entirely thinking that I was going to finish the book but as soon as I went back onto it it was literally talking about flying which is okay except in order to fly he was singing I believe I could fly the song. this book is just bad it is not worth it I'm deleting it I don't even care if it's free or not I feel that if I had paid for it I would be returning it for a refund and I usually don't do that

what a crap ending
Revisado: 08-08-23
I HATE this ending so damn much. it is straight garbage. we see 4 book that grow the relationship of Will and Selene. Just for her to start killing kids to become a litch. then expected will to be cool with it. in the last book she didn't even want the crown now no one else should have it. will is self exiled. honestly it is like someone that hadn't read/wrote the first 4 books took over to finish up book five
