Let's Talk is designed for Christian clergy and lay people to expand their knowledge about the Jewish aspects and roots of their faith. The book addresses misconceptions, unintentional antisemitism in liturgy or interpretation, beautiful comparisons, and helps listeners understand the difference between the historical Jesus and modern-day Judaism.

Historia
Ages ago, sorcerers of unmatched power sundered a world into four realms—sky, stone, fire, and water—then vanished. Over time, magicians learned to work spells only in their own realms and forgot the others. Now only the few who have survived the Labyrinth and crossed the Death Gate know of the presence of all four realms—and even they have yet to unravel the mysteries of their severed world. . . .

Historia
In Indigenous Continent, acclaimed historian Pekka Hämäläinen presents a sweeping counternarrative that shatters the most basic assumptions about American history. Shifting our perspective away from Jamestown, Plymouth Rock, the Revolution, and other well-trodden episodes on the conventional timeline, he depicts a sovereign world of Native nations whose members, far from helpless victims of colonial violence, dominated the continent for centuries after the first European arrivals.

Fantastic, informative, engaging, and important
Revisado: 01-22-23
I feel this book should be taught as part of American history in America and abroad - the author tells the story of many peoples who lived without reference to colonial Europeans for generations, rather than merely a tragedy or a lost group of cultures. This is compassionately told and above all else, deeply informative

Exactly what needs to be said

Modern bigotry is no less bigoted because it’s socially acceptable or even because it draws on historical reality. This book makes the case clearly and powerfully.

Historia
In Becoming Hitler, award-winning historian Thomas Weber examines Adolf Hitler's time in Munich between 1918 and 1926, the years when Hitler shed his awkward, feckless persona and transformed himself into a savvy opportunistic political operator who saw himself as Germany's messiah. The story of Hitler's transformation is one of a fateful match between man and city. After opportunistically fluctuating between the ideas of the left and the right, Hitler emerged as an astonishingly flexible leader of Munich's right-wing movement.

Wonderful fine grained analysis and narrative

Fascinating addition to the study of hitler’s political development, tracing a more nuanced road to the dictator than the story he himself told and has been treated as the prevailing timeline

Thoroughly mediocre but enjoyable
Revisado: 04-21-19
I enjoyed this book, but it wasn’t worth the audible credit. The story meanders and lacks a serious theme. The additional background on familiar characters kept me going in the less focused middle, but it’s not something that seems to add much to cannon. Not a bad casual read, and performance is great.

Slow start but worth it
Revisado: 06-12-18
This entire series is classic epic fantasy and each book has its own special elements to love. This first book gets off to a very slow start and the action really doesn’t pick up until late in the book. It turns out to be a great investment in world building, so stick with it if you find yourself not engaged fully for a while
