Historia
Celie has grown up poor in rural Georgia, despised by society and abused by her own family. She strives to protect her sister, Nettie, from a similar fate, and while Nettie escapes to a new life as a missionary in Africa, Celie is left behind without her best friend and confidante, married off to an older suitor, and sentenced to a life alone with a harsh and brutal husband. In an attempt to transcend a life that often seems too much to bear, Celie begins writing letters to God. The letters, spanning 20 years, record a journey of self-discovery and empowerment guided by the light of a few strong women.

People always say the book is better than the movie. I don't think that it holds true for this project. to many characters with flat affect. It wasn't exciting or funny or suspenseful. The movie was much more interesting. very disappointing.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Unfortunately not one of her better offerings. I kept waiting for the hook. And I waited and I waited on, and on , and the hook never came. I was hoping to sit back comfy in my chair and relax into it, but that was not to be.

the narrator tells the story. she doesn't make it exciting. I like books that make me feel like I can see what's going on . it was just annoying, and I didn't listen to the whole book.

stunningly wonderful
Revisado: 05-23-19
It. kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted justice for Jon- veljean (sp) . A lot of it was predictable, but I felt so happy when the story line panned out, if just for a moment. I love the last scene, except that he died. Justice won the day, and my heart. I highly recommend this book. love ,love, loved it .

Historia
Praised by Alice Walker and many other best-selling writers, The Personal History of Rachel DuPree is an award-winning debut novel with incredible heart about life on the prairie as it's rarely been seen. Reminiscent of The Color Purple as well as the frontier novels of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Willa Cather, it opens a window on the little-known history of African American homesteaders and gives voice to an extraordinary heroine who embodies the spirit that built America.

the unfinished story.
Revisado: 01-22-19
a dissapointing unfinished ending. to many questions left unanswered. ended to abruptly. very dissapointing over all. she constantly whined through the whole story without standing up to her husband, who was stubborn and manipulative. nothing worse than a woman putting up with this. I don't recommend this book at all.

Great Story
Revisado: 10-27-18
It was slow in starting , but it drew me in dangling little bits of carrot . As. I greedily grab for it , it strung me along. Gripping my heart . Wanting more and more . it twisted and turned and frustrated my emotions. Just when I thought the story was ending and they would live happily ever after, the little foxes came to destroy the vine. up and down it went until at last.
