It's been interesting find out how the characters have grown in such a short time. I like the sisters. Ruby's story is interesting. I really like the love story between Joel and Faith. What is next?

Am I Really Hooked?
Revisado: 06-21-24
I am invested in the characters now. I want to see if they live happily ever after. For someone that is jaded and closed off, this is pretty big. How is it I feel as if I am right there or better yet, I am that character. Great writing and story telling. I believe it is a lost art.
I recommend this book series if you are feeling lost and out of love. I will give notice, there is sex in the story.
Enjoy!!!

💥I am not one for romance or feel good books, but I liked it. There is some tickle time. I had no idea there were so many ways to describe carnal acts.

The Alienist
Revisado: 05-13-24
I am disappointed it was an abridged version. I personally like to listen and follow along in the book.
The story kept my attention. It was well written. I enjoyed the presentation from Audible. The narrator had a present voice, and to me his voice sounded similar to John Lithgow.
I do not wish to give spoilers. I can tell you the TNT limited series took liberties with the story. Because I watched it before I read it, while listening to the story the characters took on the look of the actors that portrayed them. There were many time I could hear Luke Evens narrating the story.
Please take some time out of your day for self care and listen to a book.

Bayr of Saylok, bastard son of a powerful and jealous chieftain, is haunted by the curse once leveled by his dying mother. Bartered, abandoned, and rarely loved, she plagued the land with her words: From this day forward, there will be no daughters in Saylok. Raised among the Keepers at Temple Hill, Bayr is gifted with inhuman strength. But he’s also blessed with an all-too-human heart that beats with one purpose: to protect Alba, the first girl child born in nearly two decades and the salvation for a country at risk.

All I Could Say Was D**n!!
Revisado: 08-30-21
I loved this story. There were a few twists. There were a few expected outcomes. Over all this was a great book. The characters were fully realized in my eye. There was action, love, revenge, and a curse. At the end I was tearing up and all I could say was DAMN! Come on, this is great stuff!
Give it a chance. Rob Shapiro does an amazing job narrating the story. His female voices are not bad. His voice is the kind you can loose yourself in and not realize 5 hrs. have past. He will not put you to sleep.
I cannot wait to start the second book.

More To The Story
Revisado: 08-16-21
This was a good story. It was not what I expected. There was the main story which held true to my vision, but there was so much more.
It was well written. It was engaging. If you have the chance use the audio book version. The performers were very good. I am quite envious of the gentleman's ability to change his voice in so many ways. Cassandra Campbell and Mikael Naramore have a new fan.
I am going to see what else I can find by Kendra Elliot for sure.

Historia
It's 1894. Jordan Wallace and Sadie Wagner appear to have little in common. Jordan, a middle-aged black teacher, lives in segregated Chicago. Two thousand miles away, Sadie, the white wife of an ambitious German businessman, lives in more tolerant Oakland, California. But years ago, their families intertwined on a plantation in Virginia. There, Jordan's and Sadie's mothers developed a bond stronger than blood, despite the fact that one was enslaved and the other was the privileged daughter of the plantation’s owner.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.
