Epic adventure and story. With a great dangle of romance in there! So many great micro tropes and story arcs I look forward to book 2!

Great and varied stories
Revisado: 10-11-23
I LOVE the different type of stories included. Each new one was so different from the previous. I absolutely adore the Spanish language ones.
These stories reminded me that I love prose, I love stories sin prose.
The only suggestion is to not have such grand ending to each book/part. I think this is divided into 4 books? 4 parts? And it has this grand ending, which made me look back to see if the book had completely finished. So it caused a little confusion. But other than that it is a phenomenal experience.

Historia
She's the only sister in a family of alpha males. Loved, treasured, and sheltered by her brothers, Kat McClain is working to heal the pain of a failed marriage to a man she loved from her teenage years and move on with her life, but she's a woman; she has needs, and she's understandably lonely. Tommy Kirby has protected her brother since he was barely a man and has been a silent staple in the McClain family for just as long. He loves his job, his life, and is loyal to his employer. More than anything, he wants a family of his own. Perhaps these two are exactly what the other desires.

Revisado: 03-13-23
I’m so happy a McClain sister for her own story! She is so deserving of love and the clandestine nature of these two is so hot! Even though it’s a novella you get some great plot and character development!

Emery Thompson hates Calvin Chamberlain. From the way he acts like he’s better than everyone to the way he moves through the world thinking his podcast is the cream of the crop, every little thing about the man gets to him. Even that dashing, oh-so-confident smile. He’d rather be caught dead than be around the man any longer than necessary—or admit that last part out loud.

A delight in my headphones!
Revisado: 02-20-23
This was an audio delight!
True Crime podcast meets romance book, yup perfection in a novella.
I wish it was longer simply because the dialogue is addictive. This author should write for sitcoms, their dialogue is so interactive and sure the narrators were absolute masterminds, but the writing easily created such a realistic atmosphere.
Both characters are so sharp and witty, I wish they were real people I could tune into daily.

Historia
Touré Wallace and Niomi Spencer were close friends at Finley College, the prestigious HBCU they attended. The attraction that simmered between them every semester was a question they never got to ask or answer before soaring ambitions launched them to opposite corners of the world. Both chased their dreams of grit and glamor as high-profile journalists. They got it all...except a shot at being more than friends. Years later, Touré is an award-winning investigative journalist and Niomi is America's most popular morning-show host, but they both feel like something’s missing.

So GOOD!
Revisado: 02-09-23
Nah but this was mad cute.
Second chance for college flirt and crush buddies years later they have both established prominent careers, they have a chance encounter and the flame is still there.
Kennedy did an amazing job at giving us enough back story to understand the meaning of these two meeting again, which is a big deal.
Many people can relate to finally being able to see that old flame that never got explored.
Plus they both are in the journalism sector in their own respects so its so powerful to have two powerhouse characters come head to head.
Their is enough feels in here to give you goosebumps and WE KNOW Kennedy knows how to give the STEAM!
It was wonderful!

“I was in a relationship with two men, and neither were giving me up.” That thought flashed through Charlotte’s brain like a bright neon light as she followed her husband out of her marriage counselor’s office. The office where she’d sat twice a week as she tried to repair the glaring problems in her marriage. The marriage that she’d fought hard to save to a man that wasn’t fighting alongside her. She’d been lied to, ignored, and used as a pawn to climb his ladder to success. Charlotte was broken, not just her marriage.

Revisado: 09-07-22
This book reminds me of those sexy yet taboo shows like The Affair, or Scandal. Lots of messy back and forth and forbidden type of things happening. I was so enveloped in all the happenings. I recommend if you want sexy things and non conventional love stories. There is a cliffhanger though so you will immediately need book 2! Great narrator, I love this narrator so much!

My heart doesn’t beat, it ticks. It’s been that way since I was 16 years old and I caught my sister in bed with my boyfriend. I gave my heart to a boy who didn’t deserve it, then spent the next few years indulging in hard drugs and even harder sex. Life is easier when you don’t get attached. Casual. No commitments. That’s the rule. At least it was before he came along.

Revisado: 08-16-22
I really do like it when authors find a way to write forbidden type of tropes but with a great plot and story line. This book is exactly that, it surpasses just steamy scenes, there is a swoony love story there. The narration is SO good. I am starting to think Lacy is one of my fave narrators. And this book has the DUAL narration? Def a great audio experience!

JARED - If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat...The heart everyone assumes is frozen over. Her anger is...arousing. Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me...well, you know. If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man. I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it. I'm sure what you meant to say is, "Coming right up." They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game.

AMAZING. EVERYTHING I NEEDED,
Revisado: 08-26-19
The intro was hard. Really hard. I didn’t like reading Banner’s body opinions, it was a hard listen. The intro being short but not lacking in drama or even dare I say it, trauma… The courtship and self-growth is so worth it!
Her self-talk was hard to listen to, the negative body talk is extreme and difficult to digest. And I am saying that from my own perspective, as a possible victim to this kind of self-ideology, it was a hard listen. I once (and still) struggled with those negative thoughts, especially in this day and age with social media and such. I have always fought hard for my own self esteem and confidence. There are periods in my life when I could actually relate to those thoughts and periods in my life where I would scoff at that and metaphorically slap my past self for feeling those things. Why am I dedicating so much time to this part? Banner’s character shows that even though she fought hard for herself as well, these dips in confidence, esteem and eating patterns happen constantly. I also got to thinking about conversations I have with close friends, girls not my size, and they struggle with these thoughts, with these confidence killing talks they also have in their minds. Some beautiful and what I consider strong friends will speak so ill of their body. And I will just sit and mentally gape at some of the things they think and want to shake them. So even though Banner’s size and the sporadic self-hatred may seem extreme to some readers, it’s important to remind ourselves that these extreme thoughts a plus size woman has, happen to thinner, smaller women. And if you feel like I felt reading them, which was disgust and even anger, then it should be taken as a moment of reflection, especially when you feel inadequate. Use Banner the anger you have towards her thoughts and slap yourself back to reality. You are beautiful, worthy of love, you are sexy and seducing.
Other than that, I will say Jared Foster her love interest, is slightly alpha, but I am just going to say it, I LOVED it!!! They were each other’s exact match, and remember when I mentioned wanting to slap the negative talk out of Banner’s mind/ our heads? Well he was the human embodiment of this. He was unapologetically fierce in his admiration to Banner, it was so yummy to read. And his “alphaness” (not a word I know) was exactly what some women look for in that instant. I take care of myself, I constantly make decisions all day, I carry the burden of a million different people, please tell me how you want it. HAHAHA!!! Banner’s internal dialogue says it all, “A possessiveness I never thought I would want.”
Before I go, FREGGIN BANNER is such a bad bitch, she negotiates and has a work ethic that blows me away!!!
Oh and how about Jared, “I wouldn’t want to stop her. Banner is mine and wholly her own.”
GAH!
Kennedy Ryan did it again.

Sports romance converted me into a believer!!!!!
Revisado: 07-10-19
HOLY CANNOLI!!!
Such a good book, so well written, and the audible ensemble was outrageously talented. I was enraptured with this book from the beginning.
Please note* content warning*
This book goes over very serious things that are very real in this world. But with that being said, I believe Kennedy Ryan excels in her writing, giving equal parts to each arc in the whole plot of this story.
The romance in this was juuusssttt right, with the steam... SIZZLING.
The girl/sister/cousin bond was on point with the female characters. And as scared as I was to read a sports romance Ryan really made it the backdrop setting of the story.
The main plot in her writing is character development, our heroine goes through so much things that should break any person but we see her rise from it.
And yes with it being a romance the courtship of the hero and heroine play a big part, but dare I say it was not rushed? It was all in due time and very realistic in a way. With all the delicious distance longing my heart needed. *Swoon* (Blasted angst and longing!! You get me every time!!)
August is just. Well. Damn.
Adding this book to the favorites!!!!
