Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

I could not get through the first hour
Revisado: 09-07-24
The premise of the book sounded like it would be right up my alley. Unfortunately I found the“he/she said” at the end of every single line of dialogue and the way the narrator emphasized those dialogue tags to be so aggravating I had to stop listening.
This is not an actual example from the book, but it felt like this:
“Hi,” he said.
“Hello,” she said.
“How are you doing?” he said.
“Good,” she said.
“Glad to hear it,” he said.
“Nice weather, isn’t it?” she said.
“It’s alright,” he said.
Not every line in a back and forth conversation like that needs to be tagged.

Historia
There’s trouble in Hollywood. Big surprise, Sheepdip, there’s always trouble in Hollywood. But for Yours Truly, Nick Nolte, private dick, actor, entrepreneur, collector of exotic and often dangerous commodities, and People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive (1992), Hollywood is a filthy, decaying, half-empty swimming pool, and I’m gonna dive in head-first. Someone’s kidnapping Hollywood bigwigs? Hell, I wish I’d thought of it first. Clones runnin’ amok from Pismo to Tijuana?

Somewhat amusing
Revisado: 08-25-24
There were some amusing parts. The story moves really slowly as it gets bogged down in endless asides that are meant to be humorous. For me that humor was successful only some of the time.
There were a lot of references to various RiffTrax movies and shorts. Listener’s enjoyment will probably be limited without an extensive knowledge of the RiffTrax catalog.
