Intense!
Revisado: 04-24-25
I loved learning about Alaska; the beauty and the danger. The story was as intense as it gets. I don’t recommend it for people who already have lots of stress in their lives. I believe the circumstances could have been different to tone it down a bit. I am glad I got through this book, but in some ways wish I hadn’t started it. There are some really harsh realities that maybe don’t need to be faced. I chose this book, because the author wrote the best audiobook I ever listened to, The Women. The narrator was very good, except with men’s voices. The women and children were very real.

Great Historical Novel with Engaging Fiction
Revisado: 04-19-25
I have come late to the Wilderness Books so was able to listen to all the Wilderness Series, then The Sweet Blue Distance (written to close the gap) and lastly the Waverley Place books (one more to come). I loved the historical aspect and that the characters were remembered over about 100 years. Just a couple of criticisms only because I am such a stickler for order and accuracy. Kate Reading was the narrator for all the books except the Guilded Hour (Book 1 in the Waverley Place series), Ms Campbell did a great job, except that it was confusing that she gave Sophie a French accent (moved to New York as a child of 10 years old) and Oscar Maroni an Irish accent even though he was half Italian and raised by an Italian family. This was corrected by Kate Reading in Where the LIght Enters, but took a bit of time to get used to the change. In this latest book, Lily Bonner is 89 years old and no longer an artist due to arthritis in her hands, but so revered and loved by all the family that has survived so far. I remember when Lily was born along with her twin brother, Daniel, but along the way through the subsequent stories, there are some differences in terms of the names of her children, whether they are dead or alive and some circumstances surrounding their lives and deaths. I know this part is fiction, but I get so wrapped in the stories, that I prefer consistency. Anyway, I highly recommend these books and hope that others will appreciate them as much as I do. I hope the third book in the Waverley Place series will be out in the audio version soon.

Answered So Many Questions
Revisado: 04-01-25
This fascinating story was so rich with history of the southwest. My family includes five generations of Southern Californians. Beyond that, I was happy to hear more details about the characters in the Wilderness series. After the Endless Forest I was left with so many unanswered questions in that epilogue. The Sweet Blue Distance answered all my questions and many more. Loved it!

SO IMPORTANT!
Revisado: 03-21-25
I love historical fiction, but this one stands out because I lived through this era as a teen and in my 20s. At that time I didn’t know how much our veterans suffered even after they returned home. The important role played by women was such an eye opener! All HEROS! I have to say that this is the most important, profound and well written book I have ever read (heard). I have listened to the last two chapters over and over again so I will never forget.

As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 03-16-25
Easy listening mainly because the narrator was so good. Not one of Nora Robert’s best. I have listened to many of her audiobooks. They usually follow the same outline, but with different characters, storylines and places. Most of the action is always in the last 20 minutes. She likes dogs and so do I. And yes, I do like happy endings.

Skip the epilogue
Revisado: 03-06-25
I listened to all six books in this series. I didn’t think it would be as good as Outlander series, but it is. Well, except for the Epilogue. I don’t like sad endings and would have been much happier if the long story ended without adding more tragedy.

Revisado: 10-14-24
Thank you Mary, for being the bravest member of the Trump family. Despite being born into such intense family dysfunction, you had the courage to speak up even though you still face threats from your family and MAGA. You have proven that you will sacrifice your safety for our country as well as the world. I know good will prevail because of you.

Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Stick with it!
Revisado: 05-14-24
It seemed tedious at times. Lots of characters to keep straight, but all very important to how we came to be in this country. I am getting very interested in historical fiction. This book is so with a listen right to the powerful ending.
