Historia
Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents' arms. She's teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she's never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger. Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom.

An outstanding addition to a great series
Revisado: 10-26-24
Let’s just get it out in the open… Cent is an absolute gangster. I loved her character, she’s extremely well written, funny, endearing with the perfect amount of “teenage angst”. Davie and Millie are also great in this book but I couldn’t wait to get back to Cent’s story I was enjoying it so much. It’s almost like the narrator has a few teenagers at home he wrote them so well.
Narrator did very well. But got a 4/5 from me because she doesn’t have very good vocal range for the male characters. I’d also like a bit more inflection in her voice to differentiate conversation with internal dialogue.
Overall I loved this book and could not put it down for very long.

Historia
My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me. Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years.

Cringeworthy
Revisado: 10-18-24
I thought a lot about it and I can’t find anything good to say about this book. It starts off halfway decent, peaks your interest and then just goes downhill quickly.
-Character development is weak.
-Nobody falls madly in love that quickly(we’re talking mere days here folks).
-If you consider established precedent, vampires just simply aren’t that powerful and the author has basically made some of them Gods among men.
-It’s obvious the protagonist wants to get down, instead we’re subjected to puppy love kisses and holding at the hips because she’s a minor and intercourse wouldn’t be acceptable. But drinking her blood, totally fine.
-The author writing like a teenager saying this and that is <insert here> AF, is annoying beyond belief. Just write the darn words and slap a language label on it FFS.
-The narrator was okay, but often times couldn’t inflect her voice enough to help discern conversation from inner dialogue.
This book was free on the catalog and I honestly almost DNF with an hour and a half left. Do yourself a favor and don’t even start it.

A lot of blah blah bi-lah followed by intense shock value
Revisado: 09-14-24
Narrating wasn’t very good in this edition. Compared to previous titles anyway.
Book was a whole lot of talking, basically just that for 20hrs. Then an absolutely disgusting ending.
Has my vote for one of the worst releases of the series.

Thor does it again
Revisado: 08-15-24
As someone who enjoyed the last two installments, they still just didn’t do it for me. And I realized what was missing in those. Our favorite Norwegian with the thousand megawatt smile and Harvath’s team. Both of which make a big return in this book.
Harvath almost losing his life twice in this book is a sign of his age and some mild foreshadowing that he may be getting a bit long in the tooth. But as they say, it’s better to be lucky than good. I appreciate how Brad lets Harvath show his age, how he’s started making mistakes over the last few years. But the action is crisp, and we get plenty of intrigue in this one.
If I could make a couple of critiques, perhaps a few too many new characters to keep track of. But overall I was able to keep up. And it seems to me the author has lost track of how long President Paul Porter has been in office. Surely he can’t be up for reelection(as suggested), he’s been in office since the end of book 8. Plenty has happened since then, Harvath has definitely aged more than 4yrs which means Porter cannot run again. But I’m willing to let that go.
But overall a great installment and I enjoyed it.

Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate, Mate…
Revisado: 08-01-24
I didn’t find book 1 as great as everyone claimed it to be. But it held my interest well enough to continue on with the series. Book 2 was much better.
My biggest complaints are minor with the authors choice of words. There was a point in the book where Rhysand had been referred to by his nickname for so long I forgot what his full name was and it was bothering me so much I couldn’t focus on the story. Morrigan constantly being referred to as Mor which sounds like the generic word and sometimes I didn’t realize it was she that was being referred to. I feel like in the age of audiobooks authors need to keep these things in mind that us listeners aren’t going to be able to easily distinguish when we’re not looking at a page. Lastly, in the final third of the book I was ready to lose my mind hearing the word “mate” twice a sentence it seemed. It got overwhelming quickly.

Absolutely Atrocious
Revisado: 07-05-24
First off let me say that if you’re a narrator and can’t properly pronounce coup de grace, you shouldn’t be a narrator.
Speaking of people who shouldn’t be narrators, the guy they traded for to do Lysander from book 4. Dreadful. Lyria’s narrator upgrade was welcome though.
All that said, this book is 34hrs long and it’s about 32.5 hours of bad sh*t happening nonstop. I barely made it thru. I dk what the author was thinking when he wrote this abomination but it’s simply not good by any metric. And then the narrators had to go and make it worse. I feel like I’d have been better off skipping this book and piecing together what happens via book 6.

Historia
Britannia is finally free from Carthaginian rule. Now, it is up to Ky, a test pilot from the far future and current Consul of the new Britannic Empire, to take the fight to the Carthaginian Empire. The continent, with its vast resources and manpower, awaits. However, it takes more than new weapons to turn an ancient army based around heavy infantry into one out of the Napoleonic era. New weapons, new tools, and new tactics are ready to take Britannia into the industrial revolution if only they can survive long enough to master them.

Once again I can’t help but complain about the narrator. Rereading lines of this book, it’s just inexcusable. You’d think someone would’ve said something to the guy by now.
Story was great though, still has me riveted and holding my breath for more. Book 5 can’t come soon enough.

Story is great, but narrator needs to do better
Revisado: 06-28-24
A friend and I both concur that this book and the second could’ve easily been wrapped up into one book. The length of the title was lacking and I felt like there was so much more that could’ve been added.
That being said the story is still fun and fresh. The narration leaves something to be desired. The narrator constantly repeating what he just read is simply inexcusable with how much it happens. Still can’t recommend this series more.

It’s okay
Revisado: 06-28-24
Listen, I get why they added extra narrators as the first 3 books were all from Darrows POV. But two of them were God awful, and their stories were tedious and uninteresting. Terrible voices that were not only annoying but had zero volume control. Half the time I didn’t even know what they were saying. The only decent one of the new narrators was the guy who did Lysander. Every time a chapter ended I was praying the book would go back to him.
Overall the story was decent. It’s nowhere near on par with the initial trilogy. It did have its moments of brilliance though. If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably invested and so it likely doesn’t matter much.

Revisado: 06-28-24
I gotta tell you, early on in this book I got so depressed I had to turn it off. But I came back and it turns out I quit right before things take a turn. So do not despair if you get to where I was.
Overall great book, with some nostalgia going back to the first novel. Kinda sorta saw the ending coming. But just as soon as I convinced myself I was wrong, I ended up being right. But I was happy with it so I’m not mad. Fabulous conclusion to the initial trilogy.
